XBox 360 Dead

Has any else experienced the 3 red lights of death on the xbox 360, shortly after the last update, my system froze up, then the infamous 3 red lights of death. I tried everything, sux to say I have to send it off to Microsoft. I read on the 360 forums that there are guys out there that have gone through 2 consoles or more, this is scary considering the price of these things. NO PS3 for me, I'm going to sit back and see how these things play out.

I am sorry to hear that. I had one go out on me and I received my replacement within 5 days and all the shipping was paid for so it didn't end up costing me anything except for some days without it. Best of luck getting everything sorted out.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

I'm on my 2nd console.

If you are getting Error Code 66 it is due to the fall update that you did. You need to call Xbox customer service and you should demand a fix fopr free. MS is saying about 1% of the Boxes failed the update. I think it is higher.

This thread proves its always better to wait for buy your video game console. First, you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to get it, and second, they usually get rid of most of the bugs in the system.:) Its been a year though since its release, if people are still having problems with an xbox they just bought, microsoft, im sorry, but you better start doing something with the billions of dollars you have
I have had ps2, xbox, and every nintendo console they came out with (except virtual boy:eek: ). The funny thing is I have had problems with both the ps2 and xbox, but have never had any trouble with any nintendo systems... (besides the occasional cartridge games that wouldn't turn on, which a quick cleaning would be needed:) )AVR: H/K AVR240

Yeah tommyboy I can relate to those days guy, sux though cause I play call of duty religiously. Guess I have to find something else to toy around with until my 360 have been brought back to life. More riding time on the MV Agusta I guess.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

So what error code did you get? If it is error code 66 and you paid to get it fixed then you got screwed, but no worries because they are talking class action law suit.

im not getting an error code, my system wont even boot to the dashboard, just the red lights of death on the led ring. It really sux though, I tell u that much.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Which they are doing by replacing consoles with very few questions asked. There is virtually no hold time to talk to an agent and with a day or so you receive the shipping box, pre-postaged and everything. I think they are doing a very good job getting people up and running and it is very painless. Not quite what I can say about Sony support on two of my PS2s that broke. As far as the newer system failing you also have to take into considertation that they are getting significantly more complex each generation. While Nintendo stick to the KISS tactics. I agree with mutelight. My replacement process was seamless and very easy. They could not have done it better.

two questions. First, did you have to buy an extended warranty to get this great replacement service, and two. Don't you think they could have done it better by creating a system that doesn't break half the time (I don't know the real stats on how many break, I'm just going by this thread and friends who have the 360)?AVR: H/K AVR240

Gamecube doesn't count as the more complex system? Its second in graphic capabilities and considered the most reliable system of that generation... plus a 1 year warranty instead of a **** 3 month with microsoft and Sony.
I'm not praising nintendo here but I don't quite understand why sony and microsoft can't make a reliable system while nintendo seems to always make a system that you can depend on(usually...).AVR: H/K AVR240

No, it was still under the original standard warranty.
Yes, they could have done that part better, however, I am just talking about the return and replacement process. Friendly, fast, and not outsourced. -

I'm still on my first on (Knocks on wood) and mine freeezes up once in a while, loses connection to the intranet and so on.
I also know people who are on there 3rd one. Microsoft is good about it and fixes your unit for free. They should.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

No you are right it was the 2nd most advanced of the previous generation. I have never had a problem with Nintendo products myself including my gamecube however I also never had a problem with my Xbox and I have had it since launch day. I absolutely agree with you that Sony and MS need to learn from Nintendo because their products truly are very reliable.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //
