Can someone please tell me the difference between the
CS400 and the CS400i. I'm going to get a Polk center
channel to match up with a pair of SDA2's. I know none
of the center channels Polk makes will match up perfectly,
but it should sound better than the current center channel
I have which is a BIC 62clr.
Thanks, Mike

I don't know the differences between those two speakers, but I have heard of people using a SDA CRS+ for a center channel. It will match up perfectly.

The difference between the 2 centerchannels......
Polk released that the orginal cs400 was on the bright side.As was the rest of the rt line. They reworked the tweeter and modified the crossover to sound softer.Thats about as much as I know what they did to the "i" series.

Personally I agreed with the change that they did and found it to be a good upgrade.I bought the cs400i and changed out the tweeters and crossovers in my rt1000p's(from the rt1000i series), which had the older tweeter and crossover. The sound quality I gained was well worth it.

I thought the tweeters in the the two speakers were the same. The differences were the crossover and the change from the older grey drivers to the new blue ones.

As far as the drivers,I was told they are the same except they are made blue now.The 5 1/4 driver was reworked not the 6 1/2.

I think you will find that the tweeter is the same, the tri-laminate tweeter. The drivers are most definately different, the 400i's have the new blue ones, the 400 has the old grey ones.

Check it out, I was wrong about the tweeters in the CS400 and the 400i.

    CS400's part # is SL6502
    CS400i's part# is SL6506

I had always thought that the tweeters were the same, even the ones in my RT7's are different.

Any idea which of those tweeters would match up better
with the sl2000 tweeter on the SDA2?
    THanks, Mike

According to what I got from Ken, the differences between them are miniscule. I have the RT7's and the 400i and don't notice any dispartiy between them so I would imagine the scenario would be similar for the CS400. Now, in your case, I don't have anything with the SL2000 so I can't say but IMO I think either one would work well.

How about the new cs40i? Is that not supposed to be a little brighter than the cs400i?
