So, I will get the HD-DVD XBOX360 Player next week, along with King Kong (hopefully), any other recommendation movie to check out? Strictly from stunning PQ and/or SQ? I wish they do the Band of Brothers on HD-DVD, then that would be an easy purchase.

TIA
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

cool, thanks....how' about any released one? I guess the other criteria would be it needs to be good for repeat viewing...

    For both picture and sound:

    Batman Begins (TrueHD)
    Phantom of the Opera (TrueHD)
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
    M:I 3
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.

Hmm... so far all those movie recommendations would make me NOT want to get HD.

I find the opposite; Phantom, Serenity, The Italian Job; all top favorites of mine and worth the jump into HD-DVD. Heck, I'd jump into BD as well but not at $1k+ for a player.

The M:I 3 disk is one of the best yet, but I am reading that King Kong tops them all, best HD-DVD to date.

I own both and would have to say that the image quality is King Kong really is jaw-dropping and better between the two. However, MI:III is very nice as well. The other movie I have is V for Vendetta and while it still looks very nice I think it is the weakest out of them all.

I'm holding off on Kong. We all know an EE is coming and hopefully it will have a TrueHD track as well. No need to buy the HD-DVD now while I own the SD-DVD and knowing the HD-DVD EE is coming.

I've read over at AVS that Vendetta's TrueHD sound track is one of the best so far, but I havn't heard it for myself yet. I think it's next on the netflix queue.

It's a lousy movie though. Anyone with HD-DVD player does need to see Grand Prix, it's amazing what a 1966 movie can look like. By far the best movie to show your friends of the HD capabilities. It was shot in 70mm...

Apparently according to Hi-defdigest, http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/880/hotfuzz.html Hot Fuzz is a must have HD-DVD. I purchased it but haven't had the time to sit down and watch it. Going to try and watch it tonight with the wife so if I do get the chance, i'll post my thoughts tomorrow.

to be honest, i didn't care for that british humor at all. bored me to tears and fell asleep half-way through hot fuzz. of course, my recliners had a hand in that as well... pq was really good. but i don't know how people claim this to be THE hd dvd by which to judge others. also, the constant barrage of bass tones from closing doors and what not got old quickly!

I felt the same way about Hot Fuzz, but Shaun of the Dead wasn't bad.

I'd say just that particular pic for some reason. i didn't find any certain 'tint' to the movie. but i was bored to tears.... so take that for what it's worth. being that alot of the movie was shot outdoors in a bright environment surely contributed to the PQ.

yea it was great, although the grainy way it was shot detracted from the pq a bit. i dunno, maybe i was just annoyed with it, but the sound was fantastic, and the story was awesome too. it looked really good when there were close ups of people's faces, and things.
