I'm not sure what your looking for but by your post I'd suggest looking into Yamaha receivers. They have more surround sound modes then anyone else.
I have Installed the 80 and I like it for what it is. I think Pioneer Elite make some of the finest Receivers on the market. I support them as they hit on alot of key points for me.

Here is my problem Yamaha wants 1,300 for a receiver with HMDI and THX which is what i want. I can get that Pioneer Receiver for 500. How many surround modes does it have? I have a entry level Yamaha right now and I love all the surround mode. It is great when listening to music. I might just wait till next year and hope Yamaha get things straight.Everything I own burned in the fire!!!!!!!!!! -
Surround modes like all that "Hall" and echo garbage? Ugh.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I totally agree Bob! I checked each one out & they sounded so artificial that I just use Direct, Stereo & 5 channel stereo!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

I don't have that model, but I do have the 49TXi. I have owned other Pioneers in the past. IMO, they are the most user-friendly audiophile-grade receivers on the market. I also own an HK 630, which sounds great, but is somewhat difficult to setup. The Pio Elite will make you smile!Two-Channel System:

I have a Pioneer Elite receiver from 1996 that I use for 2 channel.Everything I own burned in the fire!!!!!!!!!! -
You better skip it if you want sound from the HDMI. That one just has HDMI passthrough (video switching).

man I so sick of these different formats. To get what you want you have to shell out 1,000 to 1,500 for a receiver.
All I want is:
Hmdi(sound/video)
At least 100 watts per channel
THX
Dolby digital

2)100watts of clean power - comes cost
3)Doesn't mean a thing.
4/5)Every Reciever has.
It's not that complicated. Many recievers under a grand............ -
So you do not think THX is worth it? I will probably just wait till prices come down. For the most part my receiver is fine.Everything I own burned in the fire!!!!!!!!!!
