Quick question - do you have a CD/DVD-ROM drive in this machine? Isn't that on an IDE bus?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Amazingly enough the HD and CD burner are both SATA. It was quite a b*tch getting stuff installed last night since I also had to swap out the power supply due to lack of IDE power connectors. I know the nvidia nforce chipset has an IDE controller, it even shows in device manager. The flat unsoldered/connectorless IDE spot on the motherboard mocks me...

It didn't come with a floppy drive either but Dell was nice enough to solder that connector on anyways...

Ugh, as if a floppy controller is more used than an IDE controller. That is VERY annoying, I agree.

Also, I've never even seen SATA optical drives.... neato.
