XBOX360 HD-DVD drive pre-order on Amazon.com

I placed my pre-order with Amazon.com

I dunno what to expect, but for $200, why not? it comes (supposedly) with HD-DVD King Kong.

Does anyone know if I pass through component output via B&K Reference 50 of HD material it switch ok?

there is no additional standard/incompatibility to pass through pre/pro video over component, right?

    It will pass HD material over component. Another nice feature, it will upscale SD-DVDs, something Sony didn't add to there PS3.
    If...
    Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.

    yep, see the link above. yep also on DTS, it's DTS via optical.

    In games yeah but all movies can be played back in DTS, even on the origional Xbox.

    I'm sure a HDMI output will follow for Xbox 360. It's nessary as displays I don't think there is one on the market that allows 1080p over component. Component will however pass a 1080p signal allday.

    We shall see how this all works out. I'm getting the drive as well as the wireless headset. I'm more juiced about the headset as I hate the wired one. Why make a wireless controller then wire a headset to it when you have blue tooth??? Only money can make that decision.

    Isn't it true that the new xbox add on will not be able to process or output dolby true hd, dolby digital plus, or DTS-HD Master?

    I have the 360 and I would never consider getting the HD drive just because my 360 sounds like a jet plane taking off it is so freakin' loud.

    I got mine and tested it with King Kong (comes bundled with it) Very good indeed! noise level is acceptable, not bad at all, loading time is slow but not bad (I have no frame of reference, this is compared to an Oppo or other SD players). Pics are looking 3D-ish, SQ is very clean 5.1

    As much as everyone else might be looking for a HDMI/DVI to pass 1080i, the reason I bought mine i actually for haing 1080i passed through component. And I am glad I pluncked 2 benjis.

    Darla, btw, when the HD player is on playing movie, the main console is getting into a "quiet" mode, so engine noise didn't add to the noise level.

    There's already instructions on the net to use that drive in your PC (or external to your PC) for HD-DVD playback on your Home Theater PC. So its not only a great add on for the 360, but also works as a cheap HD-DVD drive on your PC.

    I just hooked up my XBxox 360 HD DVD player and it will not upconvert standard DVDs over component. Any ideas on how to fix the problem? Any suggestions for a good Upconverting DVD player that will upconvert over component cables? My 65 inch mit supports 1080i but does not have hdmi inputs.
