CD's at $3 each

Anyone interested in getting some CD's (mostly jazz) at $3 each?

Concord is having a sale where each CD goes for $2.98 if you buy 30 or more; many old titles, but I saw a few I would like.

http://store.concordmusicgroup.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=BLOWOUT

If anyone else is interested, I can put the order and then ship to you your selection at $3 each (the $0.02 extra probably won't pay the shipping to you, but I like round numbers :)).

Take a look and PM me if interested. If we get 30 or more it's a go.

Let's put a rule of 5 mimimum per order....I don't want to get 30 people asking for one CD....shipping cost would kill the deal

Heck... I'll do it! I just don't know what ones to get. I've never really bought a bunch of CD's before. I was looking for some classic rock ones, but didn't see any.

Any recommendations from the old fogies here for good Jazz music? :)

Put me down for 5, I already know what I want.

I can go 10 if need be, at that price, the more I look, the more I might just do that. I'll glady throw in an extra fiveski to cover shipping, as should everyone else.

    I'm in.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    MrNightly,

That's a tough call.... if you're not into jazz, it might be a love it or hate it thing; most of these CD's are from classic bands, very early recordings (50's or 60's), so it might not be what you expect. If you want to give it a try, get some Coltrane, Monk, Miles Davis.....you could also get some of the Latin Jazz CD's; I like Brazilian music and there are a few of those. It's ok to pass also :)

    Russ,

Thanks for offering that fiveski, but shipping is on me; just send me your list.

    Zero,

    Got your PM.

OK guys; I'm gonna give you a little more work.....

There are close to 300 titles, so it's gonna be very tough to find a CD with just a part number....or the part number with the name (though I can guess where some of them are...)

Please send me the artist/CD title and in which section I can find it (Jazz, Vocals, etc)...it'll make it easier to find.

A couple of you already did it this way :)

Lots of good stuff there, a damn shame you can't get a songlist though.

The Modern Jazz Quartet discs are no-brainers for people new to jazz. Hey HTRookie, you like the Brazilian? You all over that Dom Um Romao or what? Him and Airto... it doesn't get much better than that.

Don't want to discourage anyone, but here's what you get when you click on "shop" at Concord:

"Thank you for visiting Concord Music Group's online store. We are currently relocating our inventory to a new warehouse and are unable to accept orders at this time. In the meantime, please visit amazon.com to purchase Concord titles."

Also the "buy now" buttons are not there anymore.

The link to the blow out sale still works and it lets you "add to cart", so I'm hoping it will work; I will try to place the order tomorrow when I come back from a soccer game (around 11 am) with whatever I have from you guys.

HT -- if the online order system doesn't work, perhaps you can call them at 1-800-551-5299. Not sure this number works even though I got it off their website. I called it tonight and it just rings. I expected to at least get an answering machine.

    HTRookie,

Dom Um Romao was Sergio Mendes' long time percussionist, and was also the percussionist on the very first Weather Report album. Alphonze Mouzon was the drummer.

Sorry but I need to go out and with this whole "warehouse move" at Concord I don't want to wait until Monday.

    Order placed guys....

    70 CD's for $223.60

This includes $15 shipping...which I had not considered...which takes the cost per CD to $3.19; you all know now that I like round numbers, so I'll charge $3.25 for each CD shipped to your door.

    Here's how we'll do things:

1.-Some titles might not be in stock, so I'll wait for availability confirmation.
2.-There are several titles that were in more than one list, so in case they don't have enough I'll do a "first come first serve" here in the order I got the lists, starting with me :)
3.-Once I have your total based on points 1 and 2, I'll send it.

Thanks for participating; at the end I got 25 CD's

Ok guys; received the shipping confirmation from Concord...and things came out pretty good; of the total 70 CD's ordered, only 5 were not in stock, as follows:

1 of Don Friedman Trio - Flashback (Mine)

2 of Art Pepper - Art Pepper Meets the Rythm Section (1 mine, 1 Marvda1)

1 of Cybotron - Emphaty (MrNightly)

1 of Miles Davis All Stars - Walkin' (Mine)

So.....they should be here tomorrow, and I'll probably ship them in the next couple of days.

I'll PM each one of you details, and once again, thanks for participating....

Since jazz is in the air... can any of you enlighten me? Here are two examples of what I have heard and like. Can you describe this jazz style or examples of other artists up this alley?

[album] Basia - Brave new hope
[track] Star Trek IV soundtrack - Ballad Of The Whale

Forgot to post...everything shipped Saturday via USPS; transit time should be between 2-3 days for close by states, to 5-6 days to west coast.

Let me know when you get them...you're in for a treat with those 20bit recordings.

Polk65..cannot help you..have not heard either.....
