Sometimes, it's not about the soundstage or about the weight of the singer's voice.
Sometimes, it's about good times and just sitting back knowing that you are one lucky SOB. How many of us are priviledged enough to have food, shelter, other amenities that we take for granted... and on top of that, we have the luxury of hifi audio!??! All of us should be thankful for what we got.
This transcends upgraditis, gear fantasies, and the quest for audio nirvana.
So, wherever you are in the US (or the world)... take a minute to look around you and look at your audio gear and realize that you are one lucky SOB.
Here's me chilling back in my Pajamas by my PC with the Martin Logan Summits playing Jason Mraz. I'm eating dinner (pizza) just laying back after a long day at the hospital.
I dont deserve this, I honestly dont.
So wherever you are... cheers!

Awesome Joey...
sometimes it just feels like the sky's the limit, eh?I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

Took the day off to play golf w/ Dad (we don't do that much anymore) and now I'm ready to settle in to a little bit of two channel nirvana and I'm starting out with iced tea (it's over 80 here today hot and muggy) and then I'll be moving on to something a little heavier. Big storms predicted tonight as a cold front moves in to clash with the hot humid weather right now......let's see if I can drowned out the thunder and lightening with a little blues later on tonight.
These are some of the moments worth enjoying!
Cheers

The Rotel pre is ontop of the Rotel amp... it has enough breathing room as it has grills on the sides and the bottom. The heatsinks up front help out a lot too.
I would let it breathe, but it looks badass with the pre on top and I dont have room for the two in separate areas.
So Victor.... I say... BAH!
ON another note, I like the blue light coming off the aluminum panel off the Summit's cabinet. Are you a doctor? A nurse? What do you do at the hospital? How to you afford all that expensive stuff

Airplay355 wrote:Are you a doctor? A nurse? What do you do at the hospital? How to you afford all that expensive stuff
Good question...
- I am a 3rd year Medical student... M.D. in June 2008.
- How did I afford it? I started with Klipsch Promedia 4.1 in 2003 and I slowly worked my way up little by little... buying used and selling for same as what I bought it for. Pretty soon, with the influx of summer job money and scholarship money here and there... it amounted to the $10K+ I have in my room today.
I'm probably going to slow down a little now... it's getting ridiculously realistic now. Having the LSi9s side by side gave me a greater appreciation for what the Summits do.
Sometimes, I take them for granted... but I recently realized how UNSPEAKERLIKE they sound like.... unlike everything else I've heard under $5K.
My Mantra: Buy used, sell to break even or profit. When I graduate and practice M.D. fully (after residency)... I'll be 28 by then...
I'll try to get something along the lines of the Sonus Faber Stradivari. That's the end-goal for me.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

Mike...
I have YOU to thank for this. If I took the 15s that you ended up with, I wouldve not had the Summits.
It's all your fault really... that's a better way to put it.
And thanks for the compliment. These probably are one of the best around.

Joey, I'm just sitting over here, dying to 'pimp' you. You know what I mean.
And yes, those are some rad computer speakers. Some might dare to call them over kill. Also, I'm dying to know, are those Summits placement friendly? My speakers clearly perform better in a very specific spot. You have yours nice and snuggly against the wall. -
NO pimping please! I've had enough of this pimpage. I know I'm going to get pimped even more during the surgery rotation.
LOL!
Placement friendly? Not entirely. I have them drawn out about 1 foot for the box and 2 feet for the panels away from the wall... this is for when I'm on the PC.
I toe them out and pull them out for critical listening... I already have the floors marked with small tape so it's an easy transition. For Critical listening, I go about 3 feet out and widen the stage to about 8 feet.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

Great advice.
I think I have real job, at least the eagle flies every two weeks and drops its payload into my account. Nonetheless, doing the used gear boogie has been enjoyable.
