I need a cheap/no remote pre amp; just need two inputs and one output, no phono. Will be used for the Atriums in the backyard.
Looking to pay $100 or less.

Thanks.

Ricardo.

Just pick up an old receiver, if that's all you need it for.

I have an Adcom 535 that feeds the Atriums and works great; a receiver with pre-outs would also do the trick, but size is also a concern....looking for a small unit.

Just grab one of the passive deals from Monarchy Audio, it'll cost you well under a hundred

    Agreed....

$50 to be exact (plus shipping...)

    edit: $70 for two inputs
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

They don't have it listed on their website... just give them a call and ask for their passive box.

Be ye forewarned, it's not the prettiest piece... I'll email you a pic if you'd like.

.. and make that $70 for two inputs (sorry)

Troy is selling two Dynaco preamps, in case you decide not to opt for the Monarchy unit.

for 50 bucks IMO the Monarchy isn't really worth it, its just some rca jacks and a volume in a rf ungly box.. you can get the parasound 850's for 125 -140 which is a tad over your budget but a great pre or get a used adcom passive and be golden..

It's most definitely worth it in certain applications...

though Troy's would be the far better deal

No offence, i know you have one and that's fine.. i had one also.. and if its out of sight ok, but on a rack Nah, I'm not a passive pre type guy anyway but that aside, its pretty ugly even after i tried to cover the unused holes and paint it, to each his own

None taken... head on, I think it looks fine -- and aesthetics are always a priority with me.

From the back, side and top -- a whole other story. However, a passive works wonders in my rig -- though I know this isn't always the case with other set-ups.

post a picture some time, maybe they use what ever boxes are available and mine was just extra ugly.. although it was free and i can't complain as it worked better as a integrated for a T-amp..

If the Dyna doesn't work out I've got an Adcom that I could let go pretty cheap.

I knew there was some thread here dating my Atriums. Well, after 17 years putting up with Ohio seasons one of them is starting to sound pretty scratchy... Very good speakers if you ask me. I guess I will replace them with a new pair.
Oh, and that Dynaco is still kicking a$$!!!!

Polk makss a great outdoor speaker... I paid $100 for the Atrium OS70 back in 2020 and have been very happy with them

Well, turns out the Atriums are alive and healthy.

I always confirm what I think is happening so I swapped the speakers. The scratching stayed on the left side, so coming from the source. I went down to the basement where I have the gear and noticed the left distortion light on the Adcom 535 was flickering. So the issue is in the amp, maybe the PAT 4 preamp. Both very old units that have served me well for 17 + years (And some others many years before that).

I will be getting this Yamaha integrated. Should be good enough for the Atriums.

You can have my Yamaha for free if you’re interested. I can search for photos later.

Not sure about shipping though. I got a nasty surprise when I shipped the associated CDP. 😬

Agree about Polk outdoor speakers. Was sitting outside at a local brewery recently and while the tunes sucked the sound was pretty good, had to go over and see what they were...Polks, but not sure the model.

    No worries, Ricardo! 😊

For info, the model is RX-395, and it comes with a fully working remote. I was planning to give it away locally, along with a bunch of other non-Polk stuff, but I’d be happy to work it out to help a Polkie.

Really appreciate the offer but I want a new unit that will last another 20 years. This will make for a great karma...

Looked at the details and has some disclaimers on speakers ohms capability. Sounds like it's not completely/correctly refurbished?

Done. It's amazing how much better it's sounding. I guess the sound has been degrading over the last few years unnoticed by me.

To think you can get this sound with 100ish feet of cheap speaker wire is mind blowing.

Very happy with the improved sound. Here's to 20 more years with the Atriums!!!!!

    Thanks all.
