I've been listening to SACD and DVD-A for a few years now using a Denon 2910 player to a Polk LSi9 system. I think the format provides awesome music. My feeling is that if you are going to spend a lot of $$$ on a sound system (such as the LSi9 series)...you'd want the best capable recording format such as SACD. But, IMHO it is the type of music and especially the engineering that makes the difference. I shop for SACD on line. My favorite titles come from TELARC. Mostly Jazz and classical but I also purchased an SACD of swing music that I listen to all the time...it is so good. Alas, the format may not survive in its current state. SACD would likely not improve (to an average listener) the sound of a well engineered "rock" CD playing through a walkman or mp3 in an iPod. 2 CH or Multi CH, IMHO, is a matter of taste and most SACD titles offer music recorded in both formats.
It's kind of interesting. SACD is to music in the same way as 1080p (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray) is to new high def televisions. If you own a high def TV you'll likely want a high def DVD player. Same thing with audio, if you buy a high end system, do yourself a favor and play SACD.

Will SACD survive? I hope so.

I picked up a sont dvd/sacd/cd at bb, ahter I got it I saw it a cc for 10 bucks less. Any how, I love sacd, sounds more analouge, more real. The clarity is top notch. It's in a ht system, but sacd I only play in 2 ch.I have boston's boston cd, and sacd, and there is definitely a difference.
