Mine is a refurb. Good physical condition, but the refurb sticker was removed from the bottom of the unit and the serial numbers on it and the box don't match.

Anyone know if Monster will warranty the unit?

I bought mine in 'Like new' condition, doesn't say anything about Monster handling any warranty - the seller is providing a 30 day warranty.

Haven't received it yet, but not really concerned, if it works - and the facia is clean, it's still a deal.

    Cheers,

You can get them brand new at buy.com for $132 with the standard Monster Liftime warranty. $105, or the $135 Russman paid, is not a good deal to me, for a used unit.

Buy dot com is $149 shipped, and doesn't say anything about it being new.

Again, if it works, and it's not beat to hell, it's sitting around 1/4 of retail, and is a deal in my book.

Buy.com is a legitimate site, they clearly state when an item is refurbished.

Yeah, it's working and looks good, so I'm not too upset. $105 delivered is the price of a used one anyway.

These retailed for around $400.00 It just so happens that my brother in law is getting ready to buy the Samsung S5687W RP t.v. and was going to buy a Monster 1000 power strip deal that says it cleans up the line. I was very skeptical that the little strip could do much and it costs $100.00 I was looking for a Monster alternative, found the 3500 and then remembered this thread.

Does anyone know if those strips are worth a crap and more importantly, has anyone noticed a difference so far with this or any other Monster condtioner? I want him to buy a 3500 new for $150.00 shipped from a good seller and have a real deal conditioner rather than spend close to a hundred for what I perceive as a glorified power strip that weighs a couple of lbs. compared to 18.5 for the 3500. He's also looking at spending $80-100 for a Monster 2m HDMI. If anyone knows whether this is a good cord I'd like to know. There is so much hate for Monster it's hard to know if they make a good product in spite of themselves or they are just marketing fools, like Bose.

Personally, I wouldn't spend $80-100 on the Monster HDMI when you can get a good quality cable like the one in the link below for a lot less. If he's stuck on Monster, he could at least compare one of these to a Monster and return one. I'm totally satisfied with the HDMI and component cables from bluejeans, and I do own more expensive component cables from Monster.

I owned a Monster 3600 MKII ($500 retail) and I still use a Monster "strip" on my HT system. I haven't noticed a difference between the two. In fact, I didn't perceive a difference between the 3600 and a $40 TrippLite Isobar. I purchased the Monster 3600 mainly for aesthetic purposes and only paid a fraction of retail.

IMO, Monster is a ripoff at anywhere near retail price for most of its products. I think $100 - $150, either new or refurbished, for the 3500 is a good deal.

I actually bought a brand new from from one-call in washington two days before the stootsi deal for $168 and $55 shipping to hawaii. The stootsi one is in pretty good shape and shipping was only $14. I would have just bought from stootsi had I known, even if it is refurbished. I opened one up and took a peek inside. Seems like just some RMI EFI filters. Of course I'm not to knowledgeable about "clean power"

I'm keeping mine. Not a scratch on it, and seems to work fine. When buy.com was offering their deal on the 3500mkll, I bought one. I also had a older 3500 in my rack. So, I just replaced my older 3500 with this 3500mkll. Now I have a matching pair. :D

Well I guess you guys got luckier than I did. My refurb was not in good condition, there were scratches on the front of the unit, a dent on the bottom, and the dimmer on the display did not wok correctly.

FYI- I've been banned from Stootsi for citing my frustration in trying to deal with them. I wasn't going to push the issue of the refurb vs. new until they locked the thread discussing their SNAFU with the Monster units and deleted my honest and accurate posts in other areas of their forum. Now I'm pissed!

I finally received a return shipping label, but not having heard anything from them. I don't know if their solution is refund or replacement (which won't be new anyway, so what's the point? mine is in decent condition- small dent).

    Stootsi is an offshoot of:

I'm sure they'd love to hear from all of us. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. My comments on Stootsi were deleted and I am also banned from their forum. Anyway, some "new member" just brought back my deleted comments on their forum again.

I am going to report their shady business to the authorities.

I was banned, and had the last two posts deleted as well.

They recieved mine back on Friday, still no refund. It's amazing how these companies can take your money instantly, but it takes two or three weeks for credit to appear.

Check their ebay feedback under the name "consumer solutions". Selling used items as new appears to be nothing new to them.

I feel for you guys.... I hope you get your issues resolved.

I bought my 3500 brand new from some online store back in Christmas for about $120.. that was good deal back then. $104 is great.... but not if it's a refurb.
