Just got home from the TOOL concert at the Allstate Arena in Chicago / Rosemont. Undoubtedly tied for the best show I've ever seen (NIN, 10-07-05). I can't really put it into words - you have to go see these guys live. I could've smuggled a camera in but my wife didn't want to risk losing it. Sorry everybody.

Just heard on the radio that the Madison, WI. show was cancelled. Doctor told Maynard "not to sing "The Pot", you guys make great pizza, the Bears, f*ck it!" Do I have that (quote) right Demi? Ya too bad on the cameras, oh well.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Maynard was extremely ill back stage. It was completely obvious. You could not tell at all during the concert. I know they have to feel bad cancelling tonight, and postponing in San Antonio last week. They just won't do a show unless they can give it their all. -
Thanks for the set list.
I've seen a couple of interviews with the band and I know what you mean.
I'm glad (and thankful) I got to experience the show & I feel bad for all the cancellations but Maynard isn't going to be any good to anybody if he keeps pushing it.
Too bad you didn't let me know you were coming down. Coulda had a meet and greet. I live 15 minutes away from the Allstate Arena.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Have to say...phenomenal performance. TOOL kicked A S S! Pure energy, smoke, lasers, wall of graphics, driving bass/drums, hypnotic guitar and excellent vocals. One of the few concerts I've been to that the entire audience stood and jammed in synch with the band from the first until last note.
Sound was top notch...mix and arena acoustics were clear and devoid of bass bloat. VERY LOUD but my Earasers provide a great balance of protection and ability to still hear clearly. (PSA: My days of destroying my ears are long gone and I wear Earasers at concerts https://www.earasers.net/collections/musicians-hifi-earplugs).
I've seen 200+ concerts and TOOL was in the top 3 for quintessential rock theater. If I could share this with someone that had never seen a true over the top rock concert I'd recommend (from experience) The Wall, KISS's farewell tour and TOOL. Love or hate these bands but they are performance benchmarks for me and my 1980s to present journey. Not a Deadhead but would've loved to have seen The Grateful Dead in this same vane.
Will say they're effing serious about not taking pics during the performance. Announcement that "you will be removed from the concert, no exceptions" played prior to the show. Mostly respected by the crowd but ended up with roving security and bright flashlights shot at the offenders as pics were taken. However, Keenan (singer) said, "Okay, you effers can take out your effing cameras, phones, whatever and take all the pics you want!" during the last song.
Preshow pics...
Facinating soundboard(s) and computing power required to pull this off...
Few of the single shots I took...
Created animated gifs of all the pics I machinegunned...
Final note. Warmup one-man-band was a fellow PNW'er. What a trip. He's definitely comfortable in his own skin, literally, but pretty amazing while playing drums, electric guitar and keyboard all at once. First time seeing anyone like this. I present.......Steel Beans:

Awesome!! TOOL and NIN Top my best concerts I have seen, and I’ve seen both a handful of times and never disappointed.
My favorite High Energy Show I have been to by far was Limp Bizkit back in their prime early 2000’s, it was totally off the hook, the whole place was bouncing you could feel the vibrations in the building, Fred knew how to get a crowd going..
Glad you had a great time, I will probably miss their next visit in February, most of these ticket prices just kill me anymore.
I get it to a degree but man it’s crazy out there anymore.. -
Oh, as far as the phone thing with TOOL, I freaking love not having everyone around me holding a phone, plus the place is darker for the visuals..
