Went to see Rob Zombie and Godsmack on the 14th at the Midwest Bank Amphitheater (Tinley Park / "Chicago"). That was a great show! We were in the 1st row next to the pit on the right side of the stage. The only thing between us and the band(s) was the security gaurds.

Zombie was awesome but they weren't up there for long (not long enough imo). He's promoting a new CD but he played a great mix of new and old. Gogo dancers, blacklights, movie clips, scary masks, and fire, fire fire (pyrotechnics)! He really knows how to get the crowd going :)

After their set was over the roadies were re-arranging the stage and a midget roadie named Meatball was hanging out by us chatting up some hotties. I was just sitting there and he held out his hand to give me something. He ended up dropping a couple of Zombie picks into my hand.

Godsmack took the stage and they were a lot louder than Shinedown or Zombie. We were 3 - 4 feet away from a wall of woofers. My hair was moving with every beat of the drums! They did a really cool drum routine "Batalla De Los Tambores" - drum battle (Sully and Shannon on two drum sets). My friend got a guitar pick out of Sully's mouth when he was on top of the stack of woofers. He gave one to one other chick some and that happened to be a lady that was pretty wasted (and had been tripping over me all night). Out of the blue she turned to me and gave me her pick. She said it was to make ammends. I wasn't pissed at her or anything - I mean she was just having a good time (so I guess I lucked out). It was a really good show. After it was all over a roadie handed me the set list.

It turns out that this is where we were supposed to be sitting for the nine inch nails show on 7-1-06 so I was kinda pissed about that (it was in the back of my mind all night). Another fan wrote a pretty good review of the show here. It was a great time but they were not as intense as I thought they'd be. Their persona was a mismatch with the music. Zombie was the best all around act that night. Going to see TOOL on the 18th (Monday night) but our seats aren't as good.

I'm not a fan of either band.. but, experiencing live music is still one of my favorite things in the whole world. that's very cool that you were that close to the stage. How's your hearing this morning? LOL

I wish more bands would tour these days... i'd go to more concerts if they did.

    thanks for sharing your pics.
