Hello all!

I'm new to the Polks, and this forum, however I've been around audio forever (it seems).

I picked up a mint pair of 2.3TL's off the local Craigslist. I hooked them up on one side of my bedroom system, being driven by an Adcom GFA555II amp, GTP400 preamp and a Levinson 390S CD player. There's another system in this rack as well: Levinson 390S, 380S preamp, Carver TX11a tuner and Levinson ML3 amp driving a pair of Revel Gems. Anyway, here's a couple pix, I am enjoying the Polks with late nite jazz off public radio. These have a nice smooth, easy to listen to sound.

Best,

Paul :D

I'm in the sticks! North Central Massachusetts. The speakers were in Boston.
I got a deal I could'nt pass up....$300.....So on a work night (I get up at 4:30AM) I left at 8:30PM to go get 'em and didn't get home 'til 12:30 in the morning.

They were a little dusty. Some vacuuming and Orange-Glo on the wood has 'em looking like new. No scratches or dents. I got the cable/boxes/packing but no manual.

Congrats and welcome. You got a deal. Like they said, these will grow on you. Do some searches here and learn about them. Lots of info on placement and tunes that sound good. That TX-11a sounds good with the extra punch doesn't it?

    Great steal!

You need to put more space between them, 6' is a good minimum. Call Polk and ask them nicely to send you a manual, it'll explain the ins and outs.

I'd like to have more space, the 2.3's are in my master bedroom. There's two systems in the rack sharing the Levinson 390S CD player. Outboard of the Polks are a pair of Revel Gems on stands. I can't put the Polks in the living room because there's a complete system there already. LOL, tough trouble to have, however I'm a certifiable audio loony. Music is my drug of choice!

Here's a pic of the livingroom below.

Welcome to the forums! I'm new myself. Wow, Paul nice score. I just drove from Philly to Medford Mass (aprox 800 m. round trip 8:00 AM to Midnight) August 12th to pick up a pair of 1.2 TLs that cost me $1500. The real bummer is that I can't use them yet because I am currently renting while me and my wife are house hunting, needless to say I am very jealous. Good luck and if you ever want to sell one of those sweet amps, I am in the market for amps. I have another thread going under vintage speakers but not getting many hits.

    Good listening,
    Joe

The tall speakers in the livingroom are Pipedream Reference 18's
The mid tweeter towers are 7' tall each tower has 18 mids and 36 tweeters.
The two round enclosures on either side of the TV contain 2 18" woofers in each enclosure. The system MUST be bi-amped, and MAY be tri-amped if so desired. All told there are 36 mid drivers, 72 tweeters and 4 woofers for a total of 112 drivers. More information about the current pipedrams can be found here:
