Which SVS to buy??

I've decided its time to get an SVS. I think i have it narrowed down to the 20-39-pci or the 20-39 pcplus. I understand that the pc pluss has a much bigger and amp better woofer, and can be tunned differnetly by pluggint he ports but is it worth the extra $250??? Now i already know what most of you are going to say. If your goign to spend 600, whats another 225?
So long story shot, who has either, opinions? Is thge pc plus really worth the extra $$$$? How much difference is there??
Thanks for the help in advance!:D

Having owned the PCi for over a year or two now...
I can say this with absolute confidence...
Go extra and get the +- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I guess I need to explain myself after that comment...
Basically, the PCi line is awesome. Lots of slam, fairly accurate, the whole nine yards.
When I bought it, it fit my system perfectly - but now, Ive come to a point where my system is moving FAR beyond what this subwoofer is capable of except for HT - and for my standards, even that...
So now Im stuck with a subwoofer that isnt quite performing to par with the rest, and if I had just paid 300 bucks more - I could of gotten a bit better subwoofer that could stay in the game more.
My next subwoofer I am considering ACI- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
3 questions.
would you be willing to part with it and for how much?
What areas does the sub lack in? remember, my system isnt anything outstanding, just average....
What is an aci?
Do you know if the subs are video shielded? -

It dosnt really have any real weaknesses man... I mean basically... Ive just outgrown it...
You make me an offer dude...but just remember I dont NEED to let it go...

And no they are not video shielded...but, food for thought - my sub is like 1' away from my TV...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

not sure if u want used. just threw it out there to see some other options.

Well, Id probally let it go for 350 + shipping or 400 local pick up.
Shipping will be a pita though.
I am a personal advocate of supporting companies now. So, I will push you to buy from SVS rather than me. They make the product that deserves support.
What I will do, I will offer you help in setting it up and getting the most out of it.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
interesting. ill pm u later to talk more.
anyone else have comments on svs? Every other comment is svs this and that. Does anyone else actually own one and is willing to share? -

I'm a newbie, so I don't have a lot of good technical reasons why I think SVS is great-however I have a 20-39 PCi and love it This is my first H/T system so I don't have any experience with other equipment either. My SVS will slam hard however (down to about 22 hertz on the Avia disk if I remember correctly). For me, it works great for movies and 2 channel music (RTi8's don't have quite enough guts for me w/o a sub...)
I went with SVS because:
1. Several Polkies recommended them
2. They were (Eric & Ron) where very helpful when it came to picking the right
sub for my living room.
3. After receiving the sub, I was having a problem with it moving around on my
hardwood floor. I contact Ron and he shipped out a different style rubber
pad via Priority Mail (no cost to me even!).
4. I felt I was getting more sub for the $$$ since SVS sells direct to the
public only-no middle man to have to make a dollar off of me
Is the PCi enough for you? I'm not qualified to answer that one, but I'm sure someone at SVS could give you excellent guidance. Good luck with your decision! -
I recently bought the PC 25-31+ and can say it's worth every penny and every second I waited for it to arrive. It's in a 20 x 20 room with cathedral ceiling that opens to a 20 x 20 dining/foyer area. It delivers lows that you can feel. I'll give you the same advice I got " buy the most SVS you can afford".

Thanks all for the input. I need to do a little more research to decide. I honestly dont think i really need the pc+ but im trying to think more long term. I dont want to spend 600 and always think what if... and then be forced to buy the better one at a later date. Moral of the story, its time to scrape together some money!!
Again, any more input is greatly appreciated! -
Dude...
If you can do it, save a lil longer and buy the + - you definitely wont REGRET it... lol- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

That happened to me. I was going to get the PB-10 which was around $400 or $450 I think. After talking directly with SVS, and giving them a room layout with dimensions, they recommended going to a 20-39 PCi. Of course if I had more money and/or more room I would have went with one of the cherry PB12/Plus-2 Maybe that'll be my next SVS -
I was deciding between the ISD/2 and the Plus/2. Went with the Plus/2 and couldn't be happier. While you are talking about different models, the similarity is that I had the same question: "Is it worth the extra money?" I know if I'd gone with the ISD/2, no matter how awesome it sounded, I'd have been wondering how much better the Plus/2 is. Go with the PC-Plus so you don't have to wonder how much better it is.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

I started off with 20-39pci upgrading from Polk sub psw350 I believe. It made a world of difference in my average HT setup.
I liked it so much I ordered PB2+ back then and moved PCi to my other system.
The upgrade to Pb12 Plus/2 is the best upgrade I have done to my system including my upgrade to LSi.
I could not be happier with any other sub at that price point.:)
Moreover the improved 12.3 plus driver has still enhanced the subs performance even further.
Buy what you can afford and don't look back.
Good luck..

Thanks for all the advice. Ive decided on the 20-39 pc+. Unfortunatly i called SVS and they are on a 2 week back order. So now its time to patiently wait anotherrrrrr 2 weeks.
Oh well, ive waited a few years, whats another 2 weeks??
Thanks again!! -
If you have the space, opt for the box subs, they rock too. With what youre spending you could really go with the ISD/2 but only you know if you have the space.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Good job dude!
The + will be a better musical performer than the nsd- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
isd/2 isnt on the web site. What are you talking about?? i could make the space if i really need to. Boxs are also more expensive for the comprable product...

Its the PB 2 NSD (dual NSD 12" woofers)
Honestly, unless you have a huge interest in HT, Id stick with the PC+..- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

so i finnaly ordered the 2039pc+ today!!! cant wait for it to come!! yay me!!
Thanks for all the help -
congrats. with the output of these bad boys you won't be disappointed. I've tuned my 25-31+ to 20hz since the thing goes crazy loud already. take the time to tune this sub so the sub doesn't overpower the rest of the channels.

Congrats on your purchase. Did the guys at SVS talk to you about which sub to buy, or did you just order it?
I bought the pb10-isd & ALWAYS wonder what if I could have spent a little more... Then I watch a movie, or pop in a Yes cd, or 1812 Overture, and I realize that I am satisfied with the unbelieveable amount of bass this thing puts out. My system is very modest, and the sub fits my room nicely. When my system begins to evolve (when my kids get older), then I'm sure my choice of sub will, as well.
Best of luck with your new sub, & be sure to post some of your 1st impressions.bms

i emailed back and forth for a few. They told me the typical information that i expected. I asked is there a big difference between the subs and they said yes. They didnt push me toward the more expensive one though, i just decided to spend a little more now and save some later, hopefully
p.s. i got bored yesterday and demoed some subs. The paradigm ultracube 10 is an amazing little subwoofer. If i wasnt buying the svs, this would definatly be in my house instead...
