I'd respect your desire not to have kids if you didn't make it sounds like kids ruin everyone lives. You were a kid once, and the way you talk it's as if you wish your mother would have prodded you with a coat hanger. Maybe she did...

    Ya know,

You all made me realize I was wrong. I had it all backwoods. I have been selfish. I'm going to put my life on hold, cancel our vacations, get my wife pregnant, ogle her beautiful glowing body, break all the knobs off everything I own(preemptive strike), change the name of my retirement account to college fund( I'll throw in a home refinance so the kid can go to a really good college), get a dog (kids need pets and I have no problem getting up early in the middle of a snow storm to walk it), buy a gas guzzling SUV (there goes the environment for the kids we all love).......

.......Oh well, the wife says no. She did have a good laugh when I told her my plans. Like I said before, if you want kids, go right ahead, just don't bring them into the steak house I'm eating in.

I think we get the point that having children is not for you and the wife. Leave it at that for christ sake! No need to be an **** to the entire forum!
    No excuses!

what a class act, ive seen your kind when me, my wife and 2 kids go to a nice restaurant.. your the one sending your food back 10 times, bitching about the service and holding our waiter/waitress up while they tend to you, " a guy who spends alot of money here all the time" and makes it a point to tell thier server and everyone in the place, Ive seen and heard it all before...

we get more compliments when we are out then with our kids then we we are alone..

What I don't get is the "vacation" hangup... Cripes, a friend of mine in Highschool went to second base camp on Everest with his parents- That's about as risky/expensive/exotic of a trip as they come. Every year they went to some new country-China, Japan, Italy, Spain, Kenya, New Orleans (well those are the ones I remember and yes, NO classifies as its own country) . My family tootled around the US every summer for at least 2 weeks, if not a whole month. Kids don't have to limit that stuff unless you're like my wife and actually have fun hiking through panama or African rain forests for 10-12 hours a day... If it's finances, well, get a better job yeah lazy moron! Sheesh... ;)

To everyone else: I'm assumming he's under 27 and the wife is even younger. I'm guessing that in under 10 years he'll change his tune. I've seen every DINK couple I know change their mind in the mid 30's

FYI, that video won them $250,000 on America's Funniest Home Videos. I couldn't imagine a life without kids, as I have four of the monsters, I mean darlings.

Guys, look at it this way:

Most of you riding Joe have seen it both ways and know that w/kids is better than w/o kids. He does not know this yet and can not until he has some of his own. Kids are something that you can not understand the impacts of until you have them yourself. Right now, all he notices is the financial impact, them misbehaving, and his wife getting fat. He's only thinking with his check book and ****. He's young, he'll learn...

Good point Cliff. He does sound awfully selfish and self absorbed... "Kids ruin my dinner" "Kids ruin my vacations" "Kids ruin...."

He could have came out with a less extreme position but after he stated it, he acted cornered and got more desperate and came off sounding more shallow, then the spiral began. I was just trying to reset everyone to "Defcon: Civil"

Actually, think how liberated he must feel. No afterlife to bother caring about, no family lineage to bother...

What he gets out of this life is the culmination of all the hopes, dreams and asperations of countless generations that preceeded him so the pressure is on to make and spend as much money on himself as possible.

You all have to admit: it would be liberating not believing in anything greater than yourself.
