The 40 series for daily drivers are way to loud unless you have a mustang or something, 50 series delta flow or even a 70 series if ya want sound but not the vibration and rumble in the cabinMY HT RIG:

Mine are 40 series, which were perfect for the standard output 4.7, but they are a bit louder with the high output(one less resonator before the converter). Dodge got the extra power through mapping and exhaust. It's another 30-35 hp over the standard 4.7. Something like 265 or so, which is very conservative, but the torque difference is like 40 lb-ft more @ 335 or so. With my exhaust and Green hipo air filter, I should have gotten another 20+ hp. I'd recommend the 50 series or the 40 Deltas for your Ram. I have the 40Deltas on my Mustang and they aren't much louder than the factory mufflers. I wanted the regular 40 series, but they put the Deltas on by mistake."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Cool Noel, always like the Dakota. I run 50 series on our 1500 quad, same motor (4.7). Did a 3 inch catback, dumped it under the bed (no visible pipes) , right behind the rear axle. Headers and intake are next.
Cheers,

I had no idea that the exhaust could make such a huge difference on HP and torque. I've got an '02 Durango with the 4.7 L V8. I've always thought the stock exhaust had a nice rumble to it. If I decide to hang on to the 'rango, I'll have to look into upgrading the exhaust to what you've got. I may try to get rid of it, though, as I am now driving a company truck home and don't really need the SUV anymore. Selling it might be kind of hard though, since it only gets 8.5 mpg in the city and 16.9 mpg on the highway."I got into the music business thinking it was really radical, that it wasn't really a business at all, that it was a lot of people being artistic and creative. Yep, my bro-in-law is a Chrysler employee, so I get quite a bit off invoice plus all the incentives and then some. I did a short term lease, again. The truck MSRP'd for $33,680 and I carried $1300 over from the 2005 over and my payment is only $345 for 27 months w/ 26 more payments. I put ZERO cash out of pocket, not even first payment."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Air is fuel...the more in and the more out increases efficiency and power. You have to be careful with not taking away too much back pressure, cause you can lose low-end torque with not enough back pressure.
That figure is for both the exhaust and hipo air filter, which flows about 200% more air than the stock paper filter and has to never be replaced...just cleaned, re-oiled and put back in. One of the best dollar to performance ratio upgrades you can buy. $50 for up to 12 hp. I put Green filters on every car I own, unless there isn't one for the application, then I go with the K&N, which copied Green's design. While the K&N is better known in the US, it's not built quite as well as the Green."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Beautiful! Congrats on your new toy! A powerful red truck with tunes a pumpin' on the Alpine. Good luck with it!Carl
