"Overkill" system is 90% done!!

Finally got all the gear in the wall. I'm waiting for a black SAE amp in the shop to replace the Phase Linear 400 on the right side. Not quite done filling the media rack yet. There's about 3600 watts rms @ 8 ohms of power available. Oddly enough, I don't listen to music very loud anymore, I must be getting old. I still have all the fine tuning to do.

Overkill1.jpg

This allowed the front stage to spread out a little more and expose the SVS subs. The FXi-5's are doing the side surrounds and a pair of ESS AMT 3 Rockmonitors are being restored to do the rear surrounds (eventually).

Overkill2.jpg

The back of the system is NOT yet wired...this should get interesting. I know I screwed up my order for Audio Art IC's....I've got too many short ones....damn damn damn! Notice there are 4 individual power outlets going to the fuse box with seperate 15 amp breakers. Amazingly the whole shebang ran on ONE plug before!

    Oh..............my !

Along with the fire extinguisher (will one be adequate ? ;) ), may I also suggest a box of Depends ?

Like the idea of ESS AMT 3s. Kind of had sort of a flashback reading that.

    Nice, nice work.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Kick **** rig, I'll add my current experimental rig:

All I can currently get to is 2.7kW on this rig, of course if I pull the knights and sub in the carver I could get to 3.3kW. Of course that's @ 4Ohm with drops into 2Ohm and only 3 speakers so.....

I really need to find a permenent home for the setup outside a 10x12' spare bedroom. I wish I could have the room to setup the system like yours.

Ok, this afternoon I did the electrical wiring. All the components are wired to various outlets. I found these neat plastic conduits at the local electronic part supply outlet. I ended up not using the conduit in the center between the 2 racks as is shown in the picture. I started wiring the interconnects but had to leave for the evening so I'll get back to that soon.

I gotta admit, I'm quite surprised at the neatness of the electrical wiring....I'll try and do the same with the interconnects and speaker wires.

    Overkill4.jpg

Mrbigbluelight, did you own a pair of ESS rockmonitors?

    Realtrouble1, what is SBSP?

Russman, I could have had my muscle car back if I sold all that stuff.

Opus, non flash pictures soon, after the rig is all hooked up.

To all.....thanks for the vote of confidence, although I know that all this stuff doesn't mean better sound, it is sort of my dream system since I was a teenager. Those were the days when having the biggest and baddest system counted. I think I'm going through a mid-life crisis right now.

I always loved that style of speaker. I'm trying to talk my brother into getting a pair. But alas, he's just the opposite of me......a system should be "heard" and not "seen" is his thinking.
