I'm going to be a dad!!

Me and the wife are moving to our first home in a few weeks. We are buying a house just a few miles from where we are now. Everything is cleared and done; The only thing left to do is to set our closing date with the lawyers and we are in. Also, we are expecting our first child in March. We went for the first sonogram and let me just say, wow!

Congrats Mike. Do yourself a favour. DO NOT give up the audio thing as I see people doing as soon as marriage or children come into the picture. I have a 7 year old that I would trust with all of my audio gear way ahead of a lot of adults. Teach them well.

Is that the only reason you did not buy my speakers, I thought it was something important!!

Congratulations good luck with the new house and child, these are certainly more important.

Congratulations! I know they say to never buy a home and plan a wedding simultaneously. I don't know if the same applies to home and child:D

    Best of luck to ya!
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

no kidding. When I bought my house, I had it inspected by a guy who was very thorough and even had it checked structurally and for termites. Now it looks like we might have termites (or maybe just carpenter ants) and everything is going wrong. Master shower leaks inside the wall and drips into the kitchen, the dishwasher doesn't work, the plumbing under the kitchen sink is shot, two of the three sinks need new faucets... shall I go on??? lol It's a lot of fun and a great feeling but damn does it cost a lot of money! I can't imagine this on top of starting a family. Good luck to ya though!!!!!! ;)

Can you sue to get the inspector to refund his fee? At least contact local Consumer Affairs office? Worth a try, unless this was 10 years ago.

    Mike:
Congratulations, and welcome to the world of property ownership. I would like to pass on two very valuable pieces of advice. One, leave the home in better shape than when you bought it. Second, make one significant improvement every year.
My wife and I have followed those thoughts on all three homes we have owned, and it has made a valuable difference in our lives.
