Took a photography trip to the Baltimore Zoo yesterday. Perfect weather and perfect day!

Being a butt man, I couldn't help but snap this one.

Cue up Sir Mix A lot! "I like big butts and I cannot lie..."

If that Rhino only knew...

John

Great animal. They couldn't be more cantankerous. They charge bushes sometimes just to show who's in charge.

This guy, when nobody is around to disturb him, just stands there with his wings unfurled out to the sides as if to say..."Lets go, anyone want a piece of this? Let's roll baby!"

Very cool looking with amazing colors.

for some reason, I am reminded of Simon & Garfunkel's song "At the Zoo"...

    Someone told me
It's all happening at the zoo.

    I do believe it,
    I do believe it's true.

It's a light and tumble journey
    From the East Side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
    To the zoo.

But you can take the crosstown bus
If it's raining or it's cold,
And the animals will love it
    If you do.

    Somethin' tells me
It's all happening at the zoo.

    The monkeys stand for honesty,
    Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
    They're dumb.
    Orangutans are skeptical
    Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

    Zebras are reactionaries,
    Antelopes are missionaries,
    Pigeons plot in secrecy,
    And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! You gotta come and see
    At the zoo.

long ago when we still lived in B-more, we "adopted" two animals from the Balto. Zoo. You pay a certain amount (based on species) and a particular animal is 'yours' for a year. The adoption fee helped to pay for care of the critter, and there was an annual 'adopter's party' so that you could meet (well, sort of) your critter.

We adopted a black panther for my parents (who liked black cats, big or small).

I adopted a yak for my own family. The yak was only $15 a year, and I figured "who'd adopt a yak? poor guy". I called him Zak. Zak the Yak.

If this topic has any traction at all, I'll post a picture of me and Zak.

    Nice rhino-tography, BTW!

I can always photoshop a Polk speaker onto the end of the Rhino's horn.

She's being a ****. Did some photos for a motorcycle magazine and now she's too good for little ol' amateur photographer me. I may have to remind her who took the photos that she sent in that got her recognized! I got some others girls that I'll ask. Hell with her!

Zak the Yak. Too funny! Let's see Zak!

DB - Have you ever seen a movie called "The gods must be crazy"? According to the film the Rhino is the self appointed fireman of the desert. They see a fire and they stomp it out (according to the movie) ;):)
