Parasound Model 2125 vs Outlaw M2200 X 2

Hey Guys,

I was just offered an extremely good deal on a Parasound Model 2125 New and Factory Sealed. I understand that it is THX Ultra 2 Certified. I am considering replacing my M2200s with the Model 2125 for my fronts. This will be a reduction of 75 watts on paper for either speaker. Will this reduction in power be evident in available headroom? Parasound has an amazing reputation that I have to consider very seriously. Unfortunately, I can't open the box to hear the amp. Any thoughts?

I hear that Parasound makes really good amps but the Outlaws are nice and have more power. I am not sure that if I were to upgrade from the Outlaws that I would get an amp with less power although that can be deceiving as it does say high current. I wouldn't give much weight to the THX thing either. You can't return it after you try it out?

Yeah it's a no return policy. Why no weight to THX?

No weight to THX because the level of amps that you're talking about exceed all the THX specs anyway. The headroom reduction is less than 3dB to start with. Once you compare how the companies rate their amps, the power output/headroom are probably closer to 1.5 dB. I doubt you would ever run out of power with either amp.

This is kind of like picking between a Porsche 911 (parasound) and a Chevy Corvette (outlaw). One has better specs, but the other just has that next level of refinement.
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

    A ten(10) year warranty(Parasound) speaks volumes.

If you can compare them side by side, the better amp will make itself known in short order. Make sure you test with both music & movies that you know really well.

The Parasound will drive your 10's with no problems,I can't speak for Outlaw, but the Para amps. seem to have a unique sound quality that I like.

I currently have Adcom amps in our HT rig,one day they will be replaced with Parasound...

While I have never heard either amp one other thought is the amperage rating. The Parasound is 35 amps per channel, Outlaw does not give a current rating for their amps even when asked.

I've had both amps & both are outstanding performers. You can't go wrong either way. But I will never get less than 200wpc for power ever again. It makes that big a difference.
