Is your system taking over your living space?

Mine did. I have both my HT and HS in the living room.
So, I took the seperate HT and 2 channel systems (both looked like ****) and combined them physically but not electrically. It still looked like **** and was mentally confusing with everything mixed together even though it took up a little less room. Well, it just didn't cut it in the ergonomics department.
Today I changed it again and I think I'm onto something I can live with. The systems, while still electrically seperate are grouped together but not intermingled with each other. A few pieces such as power supplies are on the same rack with the video stuff but since there are no controls on them it seems to be fine, mentally. I wanted my turntable on a seperate stand-alone table (which I have) but I am just plain out of room unless I sit the table out in the middle of the room. Right now it is on my video shelf. I guess I'll give it a try there and see what comes of it.
Over the past several months I've sold off over 50% of the stuff because it had become a monster. It is still unreasonable but at least it will be neat. I used to love sitting there looking over my little kingdom but it had become its own little inner city complete with overcrowding and lack of maintainence.

Actually...
my entire room is dedicated to my system...
Only thing taking up space in my room is my TV stand, speakers, and futon...
The desk is in the closet - no other furniture in the room!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I hear you. My only furniture is audio furniture and a couch. Well, I do have a dining room set and it is open to the living room but it is still somewhat seperate. Man, I tore things apart a few days ago and can't believe the freakin mess I made. I guess it had to be done. Once I get the racks filled up I'll take a few pics, that is if I can still find my camera and batteries...Vinyl, the final frontier...

My 2CH and HT also inhabit the same room. I used to think hoarding gear would be cool, it isn't, as it's a space eater.
If you're not using it, get it out the door.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

LOL what used to be my bedroom 10' x 12' is now just audio only.
I still have to snake my way thru it to use the closet. There's only
1 chair suited for the sweet spot for my main setup. Of course I have
a second complete system on the side wall for general listening while I'm
doing odds & ends. I'm thinking it's time to unload the "B" system and
possibly add a nice 42" plasma on the wall between the Innersound speakers
so I have a comfortable place to watch tv. (NO HT) Right now, I've only
got a 13" tv in the little bedroom. -

It wouldn't be "living space" unless it was taken over by either HT or 2 ch gear, now would itDKG999

I am confined to the living room, and I manage to place one 7.1 HT and 2 2-ch systems in there. The place always looks neat, mess, neat, mess, like a cycle. I like the mess time because I usually get some new toys and scramble the placement!!

Hey! Now there's a thought! I could sell all this limited edition WB & Taz artwork and get into high end vinyl! Unfortunately, the Looney Tunes group is more of a reality than the nutcases I work with  -
The two front living rooms in my apartment have an HDTV in each both equipped with 5.1. My living room with my equipment is fairly well laid out to allow for the coffee table my grandfather made, a nice sized couch, and a few random pieces of furniture. Fortunately my display, receiver, and front channels are all about the same depth and take up a minimal amount of space. (The SVS sticks out a few inches infront of the rest of my gear but its in the corner so its not too bad.) Then the rears are tucked into the corners.
We have the Kenwood HTIB setup in the other living room with the Toshiba and my roommate 360. In my bedroom I have a Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra multimedia setup hooked up to my PC which takes up a minimal amount of space.
However once I complete school I can definitely see my place becoming a jungle of audio gear.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

My system does just because i have a small apartment did not stop me from buying the 62' DLP and my nice 2 channel system. People that come to my apartment have to squeeze past the polks to get to my couch. and only then im sitting 6 to 7 feet away from the TV. Check out my pics in the showcase and you will see what i mean.

Hell, I could live vicariously through a picture. -
Come on Chuck! I showed you mine, now show me yours!
of course I didn't show the stack of audio gear/boxes surrounding my bed now in the little room -
its all good in my casa, The Shed offers me the private sanctuary I need and I share the Reel Time Rig with the family, put me down with the get a piece move a piece crowd, I once enjoyed looking at my extra gear, but as said its senseless unless a piece is extra special for your own reasons.

Striking a balance between good acoustics and room design can be tough. Though way more money than I wanted to spend, my Salamander triple 20 did the trick, and with hindsight I'm glad I bought it. It allows me to setup the system correctly without overtaking the room.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I had that problem before we moved out of my apartment. I don't really hoard any gear, and extra gear that I do have is tucked away, out of sight. I wish I could combine the HT and 2ch into the same area, but between the wife and room logistics, its just not going to work.
Sometimes the clutter of the HT just makes me want to get rid of it all. I know I would regret doing so, but sometimes I wonder.
The Amazings on the other hand is what is really killing me these days. They are huge, and for placement for best bass response, I need to move them well off the back wall. They end up dictating the better part of my bonus room. I may be looking for a nice tower with a smaller footprint sometime soon. -
Well, another whole day of cleaning, arranging, carting stuff around and the mess, it just keeps getting bigger:eek:

cool, guys should have lots of stuff, especially electronics, very especially audio electronics. last thing I want is some tv **** clown yapping about how I need to organize my stuff. anal bastages.
here is to audio clutter!!! i am not capitilizing in protest of the clutter police and hgtv in general.

I prefer to look at it that the living space is intruding on my listening area!
I have been trying to get it cleaned up. With the new tv and SVS, the
HT has come togther. The two channel is just about done for now.
Time to start clearing everything out. I've got way too much gruntball stuff.
From now on, if it's not waaaay better than the current stuff, it's not coming home. Any RTI speaker not in use is gone. Any amp not in use is gone.
Any heaphone not, well, maybe just some headphones need to go!"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. I moved everything around, got everything in place and it looks awsome now! Unfortunately it sounds like ****. It has a heavy midbass thump, the whole soundstage is confused, the midrange is grating on me and the treble is rough and annoying. I had to move the SDA-SRS speakers about 18" wider than they were to fit everything in and it just doesn't work, not even close. Back to the drawing board.
