I found a rehab speaker project. Some guys got some NHT model 2's that need a couble of drivers re-coned.
Very little on the net on these. Opinions? These are for the 2 channel.
I haven't made the deal yet. The guy won't put a price on them, he wants
to trade for something interesting.

CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Model 2 1988 - 1990 1" + 6.5" + 2 x 6.5" 40Hz - 22kHz 8 ohms 87dB 35W - 200W

Never heard them myself, but I really wouldn't give too much for them as NHT has progressed literally light years even since 2002, much less then.

The latest comment coming from the usual NHT flag waver.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll pass. Normally, if an older speaker is any good, you'll see some chatter on the web about it. This model doesn't turn
    up much.

You still got those? Thought they were picking them up. I'll give you a call later. I've got to see those lovely new amps up close and personal.
I even promise not to rub any body parts on them.

No, they never did - the company waited to long to file a claim, I worked a deal with the salesman (he F'd up and he knew it), and kept them for discounted price.

Yeah, I have to find some damn stands now to put them on.

Nothing wrong with vintage NHT, those model 2's are out of the Super Zero/One/Two days - soft dome goodness that put NHT on the audio map.

I'm running a set of 2.1's, and they aren't going anywhere for a while - I emailed the guy on his 2's, I might want a second, similar pair and move them to the whole house audio system.

    Cheers,
    Russ

If you get them, will they be driven by the HKs?

What are your thoughts on the 2.1 as compared to the 2.5i you had?

Yeah, HK. I could actually stop using the PSW550 in the second zone - they have great bottom end. Once I get the rig finalized (getting close), I'm going to do a post on it. So far, I'm running a Channel Islands passive pre, an AMC CD8b, and the two HK 2000's daisy chained - and it's pretty friggin good.

    Cheers,
    Russ

i've only known Dorokusai to do that when others on this forum ask for his advice on any given gear. I wouldn't call it flag waving.

    I could be wrong.

Funny you of all people should say that AAH, because coincidentally and ironically enough, even though there have been several times that I've seen him respond to any one who stated even a speck of criticism about Sony by arriving on the scene instantly with a definitive rebuttal (a one-man quick-response team if you will that kind of reminds me of James Carville and/or George Stephanopoulos, Bill Clinton's campaign team in 1992), it was the following thread which just happened to involve you that I specifically remembered first and foremost out of them all: :D

ok.. and that thread is how old? Both me and Mark have moved on, and as a result I would actually consider him someone to turn to for advice, which I have more than once since that thread. Regarding Sony ES transports or whatever else.

Both he and I have moved on.
    You should too.

I never said that nobody ever moved on, so therefore that is irrelevant anyway. I was just pointing out a specific example of my claim that just happened to be the one I remembered first.

This coming from someone who always freely and unsolicitedly volunteers "(insert virtually any speaker brand of your choice, Boston, JBL, M&K, Klipsch, Infinity, etc.) lost the ability to make good speakers ages ago", but yet cries about any criticism of Sony almost like it's a personal attack on himself.

That is kind of hypocritical to say the least.

Inaccurate. I've only said that about Infinity and it's true.

But you know what, that's all fine, well and good as to whether you like a certain brand or not. They are your opinions, and you have every right to be entitled to them, good or bad, but so does every one else to theirs too.

The original comment is still inaccurate beings it's a direct reference to the comment regarding the Infinity brandname. The other comments are naturally opinions and I stand by those as well.

I never said you or anyone else couldn't have an opinion, please feel free to do so with my well wishes.

Then I have your permission to wave the NHT flag once again? :D:)

In that case, you have mine to wave the Sony flag again as well! ;) :p

Looks like all's well that ends well in the world of Club Polk.:) ;):D
