Could this be a tube affect?

I'm enjoying my Sheng Ya CDP beyond words. It's a great sounding CDP. During the last several days I've noticed a high frequency very low "whistle" type noise during certain passages of various music. The sound is very low and does not appear to be consistent. I'm listening in 2 channel through my SDA 2.3's and the "noise" appears almost behind me integrated into the music. I was wondering if I'm hearing some microsonics from the tubes? The Sheng Ya has Telefunken tubes, a 6DJ8 in the output stage and a 12AU7 in the power supply.

Any ideas?
Carl

    Thanks for the offer Michael!:D

BTW, I don't hear this sound on my SS CDP and I don't have another set of tubes to roll into the Sheng Ya since I just picked this up about a month ago from Halo.

This may be the motivation to get some different tubes to check out.

I included the original JAN Phillips 6DJ8 and the Chinese 6N4 (12AU7) - You could try those out, no?

    Microphonic tube(s).
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Could be oscillation if there's nothing (capacitors) to keep it from happening.

BTW, it would be an "effect", not an "affect".

Mrs H & I were gonna whip up some pina coladas this afternoon, but our son (the 18-YO) brought back iced coffees from Dunkin Donuts on his way back from paintballing today. mmmmm.... coffee...

LOL! I was thinking "effect" but I typed "affect" figuring all the bad English around here no one would notice.

Thanks for the info, I'll flick the tube tonight to see if I can hear a ring. Then I'll roll the stock tube into it to see if it goes away.

I know Victor's tube had very low hours. I'll see if I can get an exchange on a new one. Those Tele's are expensive.
