This looks very, very promising.
I haven't seen a good horror flick in YEARS.

Thought it was an interesting tidbit that this movie is from the UK.

I thought the preview looked awesome.... is this by the same guy who did Cabin Fever and Hostel?

edit: maybe not if it's from the UK

i'm gonna go see it tonight, but since it's not an American Hollywood film, it won't have the multi-theater opening of say.. Talladega.

    There's a Carmike here that's playing it.

Thus far, 88% on RT; directed by Neil Marshall.

It got a good write up in today's local paper. Compared it to Alien, but stated that once the attacks started happening it got very repatitive. One I'll rent for sure but can't see it being a blind buy or worth a trip out.

ok just got back from watching it.

    A W E S O M E !
Alien, Jaws, & The Cave all rolled into one sweet little no-nonsense package.

I can't describe this UK-based horror film any bettter. Hollywood better be paying attention. This is the best "new" movie i've seen in maybe 5 years, and I'm generally not a pure horror genre kinda guy.

Speaking of Jaws, you remember that great scene when you see the shark for the first time? ("Why don't ya come down here and chum of this ****!") Well, Descent matches that. Hehehe

I just got back too. Definitely DONT bring the wife and kids to this one. I went with my girlfriend and she was scared shitless. Definitely much much much better then the cave, what a stupid **** movie that was.

It's a very well done movie. They did everything without making it cheesy. There were funny parts in the beginning but they were intentionally done and were not cheesy at all.

I liked it alot, it was genuinely scary without having to use loud sounds or flashing images to startle you. This one will make you look in your back seat to make sure you are along before you drive away.

The ending was alittle weird but it was time for the death and destruction to end. I honestly don't know who survived, they were all skinny girls covered in blood to me. Whatever.

If you are into this sorta thing (Texas Chainsaw and The Hills Have Eyes) then you should definitely go see it. Try to go when you think kids wont be there though. Some genius next to me (after he got done covering his face) kept saying "oh **** them **** is thug". Gotta love the movie theater experience.

I just got back from seeing this one, and let me say first I try not to disagree with the folks here on the forum to much but this I just can't hold my tounge on. It's just a remake of the Cave with a bunch of blood squirting every where and instead of expert cave divers or in this case cave climbers you got a bunch of hot British chicks, which by the way is the best part of the movie, and what the hell is so scary about some naked albino molemen running around screaming like a cat thats just had it's tail stepped on, and ONE GIRL kicked like 10 of there asses (no ofence to the ladies here but you get the point). I told my wife that she may not be able to set through it all based on some of the reveiws here and on rotten tomatoe and she laughed at me the whole way back to the car. I guess I'm just PO'ed because I told her that if she would go see something I wanted to see today I would watch something she wanted to see tonight, and guess what she picked......... PURPLE FREAKIN RAIN. Thats right I wasted my pick on the Cave remake and now I get to watch Prince's little sawed off **** dance around and try to act tough. But really guys I can't recommend this flick to any one, but thats just my opinion and you know what they say about those.

Mr Nightly i said it was out on REG 2 DVD...you would need an all region player to view it..
i watched it tonight..excellent movie..easily the best horror movie ive see in a long time

also the american release in theaters has an altered and very stupid ending..prefer the original ending on the reg 2 dvd..i really wish they would leave these imports alone when it comes to screening them in the States

    just saw this.

My friends and I think that this movie is pretty scary. All pop out scary and not quite under the skin mess with your head kidna scary. But yes very scary if you are prone to those sudden screams and monsters appearing out of no where.

yea they did have the usual cheap scares..only thing missing was the usual cat popping out from behind a curtain scene but the last half hour of this is pretty frantic..the DTS sound is awesome
again its really a shame they ruined the ending for us with the US release..
for those who have seen it in the theaters you can see the original UK ending on youtube

I liked both endings, but prefer the original UK ending. It's basically just an extention of the American ending after the "cheap" scare. Bringing back the daughter theme that was prevalent at the begining, which is nice.

i just felt the American ending makes no sense whatsoever..even as a cheap scare it makes no sense and completely alters the story conclusion

I saw it this weekend and heartily recommend it to any horror fans out there. "Intense" is definitely the key word here. Ironically, most of what I would consider the scarier scenes are toward the beginning and center around the clautrophobic surroundings -- spelunkering through tight spaces while the ground shifts. Traversing deep, dark chasms while suspended from the cavern ceilings. etc. etc.
The movie really didn't need the sub-humanoid cave dwellers to frighten the audience. Though, when they do appear -- it adds a whole new element. They're well done and original.

Someone may have mentioned this earlier, but this flick owes a lot to the original Alien. Especially the "air duct" scene. Lots and lots of blood, mayhem, and gore. Acting isn't terrible (actually, a few of the performances are rather well-done). Definitely not your typical skineplex horror flick. I am curious what the "true ending' was, though....

Just saw it with the wife.

I really enjoyed it. Above average acting, great videography with very true to life feelings of actually being in the cave. I've done a little spelunking in my time, and the fear they portrayed of the tightness/claustrophobia was right on.

I loved the creatures. They weren't fake or weird, just down right mean. The few scenes where the two girls go on a killing spree was super awesome and extremely well done. Not really a scary movie, but as said above, intense.

I will probably buy when it hits the shelves. Although, the ending was strange. Does anybody have a link to the other ending? The YouTube one is gone.

Ive read lots of good reviews about this and have thought about seeing it when it hits DVD. The only thing is the gore. Apparantly Ive become an old woman lately and have gotten tired of the blood spurting scenes. Tried to watch the Texas Chainsaw remake and it didnt scare me, just made me want to puke.

Let me take a wild stab.....somebody gets their intestines ripped out, right? Thats a standard whenever you have man eating monsters in a gore filled movie.

I dont know why but I used to love that stuff but lately Ive just grown tired of it.
