Loosing a friend....

'Uncle Charlie' as I call him, known to the rest of the world as Charles Willis Gold, was admitted to the hospital last weekend, having trouble swallowing, and feeling really weak. He appeared to be making a rebound midweek, but has taken that final turn for the worse.

He's been battling pancreatic cancer for two and half years, and he made it longer than most do. He's highly sedated, and on oxygen, and the end appears to be near.

I don't have a lot to say right now, but I would ask that you keep my friend in your prayers, and pray for his wife Marilyn, and neice Amelia. My mind and heart are heavy, and I've got to carry on with the audio sales (he was my partner in the business), and continue sending Marilyn 'his' cut of the bounty. It's the right thing to do.

That being said, my life is about to get real busy - those awaiting shipment of gear, PJDami, Amulford, dk999, organ... it will all happen in very short order, I've got make room for an audiophiles collection of gear, and he was doing this before I was an itch in my daddys pants. I just don't want you guys to think I've taken off, or I'm ignoring threads, etc.

Prayers pray, drinkers drink. Raise a glass to Chas tonight, and spin a classical selection at an obsecene volume. He favored the Russian composers, he liked the build up and brutal dynamics that was the order of the day for most.

Cheers,
Russ

Thanks fellas. Charlie means so much to me, not only has he been a dear friend, he's in a way been my audio mentor - the stories, the knowledge, the history. I wish I had written it all down.

I went by Tweeter and bought a Tivoli table radio, and as soon as I plugged it in, and tuned to classical 101.1, he totally responded, visually and somewhat verbally. He even seemed to respond a bit when I was opening the box, and telling him this was the last thing Henry Kloss designed, before he went to the big rig in the sky.

Do yourselves a favor, and say the things that need to be said to your friends and family, while you can (and they can respond). There is so much I wish I could say to him - and I am now, only hoping that he can hear me, which I think he can.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Russ. My brother just lost his wife to breast cancer a little over a month ago (she was 32) and needless to say we are all still reeling. Life goes on and you never forget that person, but it is painful. It's like losing a part of yourself. :(
