After many months of searching... I finally have the amp of my dreams (for now)...

After many many failed attempts... on this board, on the ML board, on other boards, on audiogon..... finally, the time has come for me to bring home the biggest and baddest Rotel!

Yes, that's right, I'm finally replacing the limping RB1070 with a fellow ML owner/friend's Rotel RB1090. I'm purposely not selling the 1070 for a week or two so I can do some more extensive comparisons and posting my findings on the Club Rotel forum on HTGuide.com and here.. but from my preliminary listening session over at my friend's house on his Summits (I brought my 1070 over there to compare to the 1090 and the Classe CA400), the 1090 is definitely a sweet amp for the price... giving a large large chunk of the Classe definition, without a large price tag.

This amp is going to be my present to myself for doing great on the USMLE Step 1 boards (the one I took a month ago)..... yay!

Look for pictures of the 1090 in my newly renovated setup in the upcoming days.

I'm also looking to add a Squeezebox 3 in a few weeks and a Zero Gravity Perfect Chair over Christmas to my setup...

Followed by a Rotel RCD1072... then some speaker wire and then calling it quits.

Hahahah... the journey towards nirvana continues.

Excellent,I also have major wood for the same amp...it has to have a "true" set of balls...plus,I love its appearance...a stellar looking piece of equipment for sure...

    Congrats and enjoy...

Congrates. That is one sweet amp. Those ML probably needed a little more power than the RB1070 was putting out. And you shouldn't have any problem selling the 1070. Good resale value on those. Enjoy! BTW, is the RB1070 black?

The 1070 and the 1090 are both the newer versions.. the silver with black (you gotta love the silver accent Del44!).

Oooh.. in other news, I just found out that my close neighbor is trying to get rid of his Mark Levinson 331 dual mono Class A amp for a ridiculous price.... hmm....

Thinking if I should buy his amp and do a 3 way shootout... then selling the 2 that lose out.... mwahahha....

I'll post pics soon... you will notice that I am no longer subjecting the Summits to my small scrawny-@ss bedroom, they're in their own section of the living room (I got a 1 bedroom + living room dorm now! Yay!!!)... my own personal listening room!

Heard the 1092 side-by-side with the 1090 powering 803D and 802D... and I still think the 1090 is the baddest. I know you have the 1092... ;) .

The RB-1090 is a wonderful amp. When looking to upgrade my RB-1070 I, too, wanted the RB-1090. Size was an issue for me (nothing to do with me personally, ;) ). I have a shelf above my 55" Mitsu TV that is approx 5.5' in length with only having support on each end. No way could I put a 90 lb beast on that with my other equip. So, the RB-1092 fit my bill perfectly. Plus, with the ICEpower technology, the amp runs cool as a cucumber. It is nice to be on an audio board where people do not attack each other with vulgarity simply because of a personal choice. Enjoy your RB-1090, I know I would.

    Levinson for $1500... the 331 dual mono 100w amp.. double ever half ohms (100, 200, 400, 800).

Not too bad of a price since that's just a few hundred over the 1090.

I know a 1092 would drive the SRS's just fine, but how do y'all think they would sound? I've been thinking about getting rid of my space heater, I mean Parasound, and based on this thread, seemed like the 1092 would be worth looking into. Thanks.

Geez.. I wasnt planning on selling the 1070 so quickly, but my friend's friend came by and bought the amp the minute he heard them powering the Summits... they're for his Maggies.

Though... he stayed over for about 2 hours just listening to the Summits by the 1090... and he though my friend had already hyped up the Summits, his friend said that the Summits were still underhyped... THAT good I suppose. LOL!

Now, I had to cut my 1070 vs 1090 review short... damn it. ;)

    wingnut4772,

Almost, the Rotel is half an inch taller but the Cinenova is half an inch wider and about 5 in deeper. As for weight, the old Cinenova weighed 141lbs, newer ones are in the low 100s (my own weighs 125 give or take go figure), the 1090 is 84 Comparing the two I would say that the Rotel is more of a beast then even the nova. The Cinenova is a larger unit but it is a 5-channel amp, per lb my personal nova is 25lbs/channel nothing compared to 42lbs/channel in the Rotel. 380w/channel is not to shabby as well, considering the nova is only 300.

    Joey,

You have all that in a dorm room? No way I would ever risk that, hence part of the reason I commute. On the plus side a 84lb amp is hard to run off with, as well as your speakers don't go to easily either.

    Jared

P.S. I still have thread from a while back addressed to you
