hi all

newbie here to the forum...not really new as i bought a pair of model 10's back when they were brand new...just bought a set a day ago for $75 which included boxes/manuals/and stands....pretty good deal i would say..but need some suggestions/tips and hints on what to use for the rears and or center channel and sub....have heard several different suggestions already...1), dont really need a sub...2) use a set of model 7's for the rears and a single 7 for the center...arent the 7's kinda big to be on stands tall enough to be used as rears? i do also have a set of polk r1's...and design acoustics ps-55's....want to try and match everything as closely as i can and need to keep things as cheap as i can...will be moving into the new house and will want to have the system set to go, so have some time to peruse garage sales and craigslist...

thanx!

I'd recommend you do a search on the forums for threads on that. If you still can't find the answer, I'd repost in the Vintage speaker section.

I think you want to match the tweeter and mid as close as possible. Maybe a Monitor 5 or 5jr? I think that'd work better than a Monitor 7 size wise.

Welcome to the forum :) and that was a great deal!

thanx for the replies....would just polk center monitor speaker work just as well? might be able to pick one up real affordably....and then try and find a 5 or 5jr for the rears?

wow, as this thread was over a year old things have changed alot...the polk 10's have been replaced by kef 103/4's, i have a wharfedale xp2 shelton handling center channel duties and a set of castle warwicks taking care of the rear stuff, the polk 7's are in my master bedroom system, the mission 761's are in the other bedroom, the pinnacle 650's in the computer room and finally the speakerlabs and infinity's are doing duty in the garage....i think i finally have all the systems set, i think.....:)
