I feel your pain. My wife & kids do the same thing. I keep threatening to install motion sensors in place of light switches. :D

I did that and didn't like it, to noisy even if it said ceiling fan OK. First the delay was to short only 20 Min's. I installed 3 office / family room / master bedroom, master bedroom didn't work the first day. Problem noisy and must be moving to keep it running..... not we're sleeping. The family room was tripped on walking to office and was on when I was in office not family room. So it to didn't work out. The office didn't work if I just walked into room to check on something then it was on for 20 Min's, it was also the cheapest fan and the noisiest Hampton bay vs. Hunter everywhere else, if Hampton bay was cheap I don't really think so. So all where replace back to wall switches. This experiment lasted for 2 weeks. ;)

OK you'll are making sick wonder why I don't have the cash to buy stuff.

Trash paid in my taxes, but $30 a month.
    Water / sewerage / irrigation $85 a month.
Electric we know but $150 to $350 a month.
Phone / DSL $60 a month and I get a discount with that.
Gas $0 but I'm sure my electric would be lower with it.

I have a 2800 sq ft home that is all electric. Our last electric bill was $260. Our high bills are $400 and low about $180. We average about 3000 kwh per month at .08 to .10 cents per kwh. 2 years ago it was about 30% less than now. Water bill can be as low as $20.00 per month but we have been in a drought for a couple years so when we run our sprinkler system the bill is about $60 per month. Trash is $17 a month, phone $22 per month. No gas where we live and no sewage (outhouse). Actually we are on a septic system. What is sad is that our household gasoline bill is higher than all of our utility bills.

I'd be interested to know what everyone across the country is paying for electricity. I pay for summer rates $0.08275 per kWh at peak time and $0.03734 per kWh non-peak (which is roughly 10% of the electricity I use).

I work for Ameren which is the largest midwest power company for Missouri and Illinois. I am not sure if heiney9 is in our service area but you can thank your law makers for the regulation controls in IL. You can go to www.ameren.com and see what they are doing about the IL side of things. Ameren is one of the cheapest companies in the country when it comes to power. Anyway my highest bill during the year is around 200 in peak summer and as low as 65 bucks. I am heating a 2000 sq ft ranch with 15ft vaults and a finished 1800 sq ft basement. I keep my summer temps at 75 and winter at 70. thank goodness for a heat pump they really work out well in the midwest.

You had 1354 kWh and your bill was $73.69, is this that the whole bill what you paid? :(

My bill for 1391 kWh was this....

Meter Base Protector SVC Incl TAX ................................$6.34

    Energy Charge
    First 1000 KWH ...... 1000 kWh @ 4.9000c $49.00
    After 1000 KWH ..... 1000 kwh @ 5.8000c $23.07

    Fuel Charge
    First 1000 KWH ...... 1000 kwh @ 4.9790c $49.79
    After 1000 KWH ..... 1000 kwh @ 5.9790c $23.38

    *Total electric cost................................. $153.27
    Gross Receipts TAX ................................ $3.93
    Country Utility TAX ................................. $9.38

    Total ..................................................................... $172.92

OK so I can take the $6.34 off the top to compare this $172.92 - $6.34 = $166.58 vs. $73.69

I'm thinking maybe 2300kwh for July isn't to bad (I understand that a Attic Fan maybe better) for a house that is 2333 sq ft. w /pool. But my problem is what the electric is priced not what I pulling.

DJ, last month was 408.00 for the electric bill amount.

As far as what the bill looked like.

Paper, it was paper, you know that slightly thick paper not quite cardboard.

I pay the same rate as you, with the graduated amounts. We have three air conditioning systems one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs and well, then the Woodshed unit. Last month my cost was over 12.00 day for electricity, about the same as gasoline between our four cars. I wonder how much it would be if I put the pool in???

    Geek,

I am only going to fill the pool half way, just the deep end, the other half I am going to skateboard in, this should save some filtering costs.

Well, seems electricty costs vary across the country, not suprising though.
