What are 1C's worth? I have found a pair within driving distance and want to know what to offer. I have looked at others, but shipping these things are cost prohibitive.

Use the search feature on the site for 1C sales, the prices range for appearance and condition, and also if the tweets have been upgraded. What are they asking for the speakers, if you don't mind telling us, others will chime in with comments on price.

He is asking 500.00, I offered 400.00, and he countered with 450.00. He is 3 1/2 hours away, about 100.00 in gas.

$650 to $700 is a decent reasonable price if they are in excellent condition. $550 total is a great price assuming you don't mind the drive and they come with the cable.

Assumptions: Excellent condition, original tweets, cable.

I wish George lived closer to me, or vice-versa, I would have loved those for that price. My seller has a buyer coming to look this weekend, so I may have to jump.

There ya go, the SRS 2s are my faves. They are a "tad";) larger than the 1Cs, but have the same amount of drivers with a larger PR and nicer cabinet.

A different subject but I know I will get some opinions on comparing Adcom amps. I am looking at a Adcom 5500 versus 5802. I have heard some good things about the 5500. I already know from my educational classes here on the boards that I can connect the negative outputs togeather on the 5500.

Does any one know where I can get a pair of SDA-SRS's. I need a price and a location that is no more than 600 miles from Fort Worth, TX.

I wouldn't let any one ship my speakers....

Unless they have changed the grounding configuration on the 5802, you can, and will have to, connect the negative outputs.

I have the 5500 and the 5802. The 5802 is the more refined and detailed of the two. I and others have some posts on listening experiences with both.

Hi DarqueKnight, just from searches on this board and the reviews I could find, I decided to go for the 5802. Some of your posts influenced my opinion. I have also decided to pair it with a Audible Illusions L1 preamp if I can find one for a decent price. My research has driven me to this combination as my entry into what some would call mid-fi. It will be a huge improvement over what I am used to, and I can go from there. Thanks for your advice.

A GFA-5802 has been my reference amp since 2001. I am currently looking for something with similar sonic characteristics but more power.

Two simple tweaks I highly recommend: 1. Use some type of isolation device under each of the amp's feet. I use "Tiptoes" aluminum isolation cones. 2. Immediately replace the wimpy stock power cord with a good quality heavy gauge aftermarket cord. I use a Signal Cable MagicPower cord. The isolation cones made a noticeable improvement in the apparent "speed" (transient response) of the amplifier. The MagicPower cord provided noticeable improvements throughout the amplifier's frequency range, but moreso in the bass. I have a separate post on this.

If you are interested in further performance enhancements, this link is a good place to start: Modifying An Adcom 5802.
