    I would get her a bigger ring, but I would find another way to do it. What if he sells all of his gear and gets the ring, and she leaves anyway? That would bite.... He would have nothing. Its a "position of power" thing to me. I would tell her to get a life and calm down. The gear stays. If she loves him, the size of the ring should not matter anyway.
    But, on the other hand, PolkManiac may be right as well. He may have screwed up and is trying to mend bridges with her which is cool....I would excercise other options.;)

    If it is a debt problem, then all stuff should go maybe even the first ring.......

    He'll buy her that d#@n ring start saving up for a new home theatre. Then when he has enough to go buy what he wants. She'll say, " If you love me you'll buy me this multi-speed B.O.B* I've always wanted. This will go on and on till he kicks her azz to the curb.!!!
