guys... two different ads by two different sellers with two different pictures of two different couples, yet the sales pitch is identical word for word in both of them.
in other words, the sales pitch for both ads are complete fabrications. -

no, not since this morning.
it might be the insomnia bug. -
I thought about replying with something like "I'd love to buy your stuff, but I really can't because I'm trying to not let my marriage get to the point where I buy a whole bunch of crap and then have to sell everything I own to keep my wife"
However, I decided not to reply, based on the possibility that he is sincere and in which case I applaud him for choosing his wife over his gear... -

They're both selfish. He's an idiot for selling because I see that marriage lasting 5 years max with what he said in his auction....
-
Chances are..............the bigger ring won't help. It just moves the "buying stuff for me" over to the other side of "buying stuff for her".

Love is what you feel for that new reciever you just stole off of Ebay!
But seriously, if you are married, you'll be doing stuff like this a lot.
It wasn't until recently that I was in a position to start throwing money
at this hobby again. It may not be really the ring she wants. She just wants to see him make the effort to make her happy. I hope that's the case, or his life will be a real hell for the next couple of years."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
I never did it, and I won't be in the future. Man, I date people who can respect my hobbies in the same way I would respect hers. This chick is a **** if the relationship hinges on whether or not he can have a big screen TV and some audio equipment. It's one thing if he couldn't afford the stuff and needed the money, but as soon as I read "....and I'm going to buy her a bigger ring," I say screw that noise.
It sounds like they're both selfish people, but this guy should've ditched this broad a long time ago. -
be in the crapper. Guaranteed.
Within that 5 year period, she'll build on the lesson she's learned here (that "If you love me, you'll give up what means a lot to you !"), make his life a living hell, develop "My-crap-doesn't-stink-itis" which, of course usually develops into, "Queen-itis".
Good luck to him (and to her), they'll need it.Sal Palooza -
......but her love is the only thing that he should need to give him enjoyment! She gets bigger diamonds, and he gets to sell all his gadgets!
-
Keep the gear,,or,,trade up.:DJC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
-
It looks to me like he went on a spending spree that he couldn't afford, ignored his wife for his toys & they are now in over their heads in debt!
Life is all about moderation, especially when your married! It is very hard to have it all, but you can have little pieces of it in time if you pace yourself & keep your priorities straight.
And lets forget the hypocritical statements about the ring. I have often seen you guys recommending that as well as buying yourself a new toy you pick up something for her as well to smooth things over!:rolleyes:Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
If you think he's in debt why is he buying her a huge rock?
It's pretty obvious this guy is a spineless twit. The gear he's selling costs less than a big diamond. Ever buy one? OUCH! -
maybe....just maybe....
The ring isn't her idea. Maybe he's been buying stuff only for himself lately and has not been taking care of his wife and realizes he is about to loose his relationship over a receiver some speakers and a TV and maybe the ring is his idea., not hers.
Sure, a ring isn't going to save a relationship (though I guess it did for Kobe), but it's the gesture of "Hey I've been spending money on all this crap for me, let me buy something nice for you for a change" that will save his marriage.
You guys are some cold-hearted SOBs...
