Lsi15 + Lsic + Hk Drp2005

Alright guys, I know this receiver (HK DPR 2005) isn't worthy of pushing my lsi's, but my question is this: I believe I can get what i've paid for out of the dpr 2005 ($600), but getting married in the next 2 weeks, it's kinda of in the back of my mind as far as priority/finances. So, should I keep the dpr 2005 until I can afford a seperate amplifier and then use the dpr 2005 as a pre-amp. If so, will the dpr 2005 harm my beautiful lsi's even if I don't push it past -30 db's? And what seperate amp should I go with (from www.onecall.com's inventory)? Or should I altogether bag the dpr 2005 and try to snag a different receiver/amp + pre-amp?? My budget right now for a receiver or amp + pre-amp is around 1k (including the $600 i'd get back from the dpr) and I'd like to make my purchase from www.Onecall.com as their headquarters are in Spokane, WA and I won't have to pay/worry about it being shipped (plus i can get some sweet deals). Any advice/recommmendations would be great. Thanks

Drop a chunk of cash on a new amp and write "Flowers" in your check book. Next buy a ninja outfit and at 2am the night before the wedding raid all the gardens in your neighborhood. Even if you get caught the police will never believe a ninja was stealing flowers. This plan cannot fail.
Edit: Oh, I see it's your first time here so I'll give a serious answer as well. You say you're getting a sweet deal from onecall? Does that have an effect on your $1000 budget vs. the prices I see on their site?
I don't see any amps on there I would really recommend for that price. You can get a much better amp on the used market for a lot less than those prices, and amps don't tend to have problems second hand since they have almost no moving parts.Dodd Audio ELP [ Tubes ] // Harman Kardon AVR330 // Parasound HCA-1203A // Denon DVD-2900

LOL, I liked the reference to ninja's lomic, in fact i'm thinking of adopting one after i get married...
So you're saying keep the dpr2005 and snag a used amp? What would that cost me? And yes the deal does have an effect on the 1k budget, i could probably be looking somewhere around the the $1500 posted price. -
Go on ebay and type in Adcom, Rotel, Outlaw and see what you come up with. You can keep your current setup until you get the amp(s). No it won't hurt your speakers as long as you don't get crazy with the volume. Even if you do the receiver will probably shut down before damage occurs. Hint: run speakers in small mode if you have a subwoofer, that will make it easier on your receiver.SuperDave

the DPR will work just fine as a pre. Some people (myself included) will argue that other receivers will sound better for the same price but whatever works for you is good. I don't like how HK operates so I would go elsewhere. I'd see what kind of deals you can get at onecall on other models. Worth a look into.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

PolkLSIfan, Welcome to Club Polk! I agree with cfrizz, 200 wpc or more. Parasound, Outlaw, Rotel, Adcom and others offer good amps at a resonable price. As someone else mentioned, checkout Audiogon.com. Look under Power Amplifiers - Solid State and browse.
Welcome and good luck!Carl -
SS? Carl, have you learned nothing from our recent experience? Tube amp - brand new and with plenty of power to drive your LSi's. Three choices: McAlister Audio PP150 or Tube Audio Design TAD-60 or the TAD-1000 Mono blocks.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Welcome to the club! Sneak the amp in before you get married!! Or..get really good and explaining why you "need" the home theater upgrades. ...You know, because you want her to anjoy Mr Holland's Opus ( or insert appropriate boring, lame girl movie here) to its fullest potential...or something like that. Come to think of it, that reasoning wouldn't mean **** with my wife. I just say I need the stuff. (I think that she knows I don't really "need" it, but goes with the flow...I'm not willing to ask if she really thinks I "need" the stuff though, just in case she really does)
