I've decided to part with my Sheng Ya since I also have the Kavent (same player - I don't need both). Plenty of threads discussing this CDP - do a search for Sheng Ya. $OLD to schwarcw.

I've never heard the Rotel, but I'd have hard time believing it would sound better than the CD-S10 without an external dac.

NO comparison. The Sheng Ya anihilates the 1070. I had a 1070 so I speak from experience.

    Thanks Noel :)

    Nope. Back up for grabs.

You guys that are asking for reviews just need to use the Search function. Enter "Sheng Ya" (without the quotes) and you will get a ton of info and reviews.

This is a phenomenal CDP (especially at this price). Tube rolling costs are cut in half thanks to the design - no need for matched pairs of tubes.

    Solid build quality.

Solid build quality. Take a look at these pics - Sheng Ya's innards vs. Jolida's innards.

Ok, so the Sheng Ya has a tube buffer (essentially) on the output, and the Jolida has no op-amps in sight, and is totally discrete? Looks like the Jolida has a couple stages in it's power supply also. The Torroid is a nice touch on the SY, not needed, but a nice touch nonetheless. What again are we looking for?

    Cheers,
    Russ

(PS speaking out loud, no hazing/harm intended. The player offered is priced more than fair, and has more than one reputable review giving it props - gotta be PC here, hence I get banned)

Nobody is saying that the CD-S10 is a better player than the JoLida, just that at less than half the price, one gets a very well built/designed, tubed cdp that utilizes quality components. If I recall correctly, the opamps are for the digital output.

Anyways, the SY has been compared to the Ah!, with upsampler, by SCompRacer, whom's opinion I respect, and did quite favorably.

That's cool, just the reference to 'build quality', I didn't know what exactly he wanted us to see.

Pretty much what I was getting at. No dissing of Jolida intended. Oh, and this is the player Rich used in the comparison ;)
