I hope. I've been really dizzy the last couple of months. Turns out that it's a condition called bppv or positional vertigo. I've been dealing with it for the last 8 or 9 years (off and on) and it was pretty stable until about two years ago. I went in for treatment then and it went away but now it's back.

Going in for treatment today. It's going to suck cause they have to iduce it several times until it fatigues. I have to kick this things teeth out and shove 'em down it's throat! Wish me luck everybody!

Go here to find out more about it: http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html

I've been knocked out going on 9 days with similar stuff (I couldn't even open my eyes on Sunday or I'd ralph). Good luck, fortunately mine ended up being a viral infection and is fading. I have major sympathies and best wishes headed your way.

For those of you who have never had something like this, go pound a couple cases of beer in an hour or two and then imagine feeling that way for weeks at a time. Its not cool at all.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Wow, good luck man, everything will work out ok, you'll see.

I have slight problem with my right ear. It happened while hiking through the forest, a branch snapped back and whacked my ear. It actually blew the ear drum and I went to the hospital cuz it was bleeding.

I hear distortion at certain frequencies.....things like clapping or a group of people singing happy birthday causes distortion only in the right ear.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. :)

I just got back home. It (the treatment) wasn't as bad as I remembered it but it wasn't a picnic either. Got a ways to go but the first step is over. Seems that it is mostly in my right ear (last time it was in the left).

My MS is a big contributor to the problem also.

They are really great therapists and I think that is going to make it easier to get through.

Other people have described their experiences and I might as well tell you what it feels like to me:

When you were a kid did you ever stick out your arms and spin while standing in one place? When you stopped everything kept spining and eventually stopped right?

When this comes out I'm at a full throttel spin within a second or two which increases speed to the point where you feel like your head is a piston being (physicaly) slammed harder and faster with each revolution until it deceides to fatigue. There is nothing you can do to control it - that's probably the scariest thing about it.

Thanks again everyone! Please keep me in mind as I've got a long way to go and many excercises to get through before I'm out of the woods.

Did you have vision crap going on as well? That's the part the really messed with my head was looking at the world through a kaliedascope.

Pretty nasty crap and you totally feel helpless. Hope the exercises help.

Yes the vision crap is part of it. Eyes, ears, and something in your trunk / core have to do with your sense of balance. The therapist said that if one of them is off you've got problems.

The excercises can knock it out permanently but in my case it needs to be repeated periodicaly.

According to the therapist I've got more than just the bppv going on though. My eyes don't always track properly - they kind of jitter (I can feel the left one doing it when it happens). Sometimes it comes out when I'm reading - that "type" of vertigo is most likely related to MS. If I close my eyes when it's "active" it actually spins more.

Thanks again for the support everybody - it helps a lot :)
