SVS Power Cord

I need a longer power cord for my PB12/2. Any specifications it needs to meet to keep my sub safe? Not as worried about performance as I am about protecting my investment.

Thanks.

    Wattage/Amperage? Length of cord needed?
At any rate, 14/3 SJ cord will handle 12A easily. Should be more than enough, IMO.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

The stock power cable for the SVS is an 18 guage generic cable. Almost anything you buy would be an improvement. Audio Advisor has PS Audio Power cables on sale for over 50% off. The 1M Prelude is only $49. The Prelude is a 10 guage cable. they also have other larger guage and longer cables on sale. PS Audio is a great product IMO!

Thanks for the replies. I could have/should have been much more specific in asking my question. I'll need about 8 ft to make it work. I guess my real question is: Will the 12 ft computer power cord (18agw/3c) that I have laying around be adequate? By adequate, I really mean will it hurt the sub? I'll probably get something better soon, but if this cable is going to mess up the sub, I'll get something better NOW, before I ever use it. To the best of my knowledge, the power cord will be a question of performance and not safety, but I wanted to make sure.

    Thanks again!

Like Steve said, order a Volex 17605 can't beat it for the money. It's 3 meters (9+ feet) so it's plenty long. And it's shielded which is a plus.

EDIT: there is also a 17604 cord that is 2 meters long, in case you need some upgraded cords for you other equipment.

I doubt it will "hurt" anything.
I checked SVS' website, and as near as I can tell your sub has a 600W amp?
If so, your 18AWG power cord should be fine. I'd still check the plug end in the outlet after several minutes of normal usage and see if it's hot.
FWIW, HomeD has 14/3 SJ , but you'd have to rig up a plug yourself, which is extremely easy to do. You may want to wait til the price of copper has come back to earth, though!
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

PSOVLSK, 18 ga power cords are rated at 10 amperes, i.e. 1200 watts at 120 volts. If your 18 ga cord is in good condition there should be neither a safety nor a performance issue when used for the relatively moderate power requirements of your sub amplifier.

I use the Volex mentioned above on my Outlaw sub. The original cord was a 18 awg 2 conductor. The Volex is a 14 awg 3 conductor, but it works fine. The earth ground will not be in use on the Volex.

Thanks guys. I'm debating getting the Volex mentioned (thanks for the link) or just keeping what I've got.

    I appreciate all the replies!
