so far, it looks like Bill used a wrong fact to bolster a point. he was trying to make a point that these things do happen, they should be investigated yes, but in war, it happens. its not just isolated to the iraq war.

read the context of what Bill was saying, and your going to doubt that he was actually trying to make a point that we should NOT convict military crimes BEFORE THEY ARE INVESTIGATED.
John Murtha is a decorated war hero....yes. He has accomplished many things he and others americans should be proud of. but stating what allegedly happenned in Kaditha as factual before an investigation is wrong., he used the report for political gain, plain and simple. It helps those who want to benefit from it politically, as well as the FRIKKIN ENEMY to do it, but not America, and certainly not the soldiers. they fight to protect us, wether you think its right or wrong. they deserve better than what Murtha pulled

Here's my take. I don't know about this whole Malmedy thing or O'Reilly. Speaking generally, in the US we like to think of us as good, them as evil, whomever the proverbial "them" is... In reality we are guilty of "cheating" and dirty dealing just as much as any other country today. That is just a reality of the way things work in the world. Sure we tend to be more humane in general, im not saying we're evil. Some people get all uppity any time you dare question the sacred morals and values of the US. But we didn't get to be a superpower by playing nice.
And with all this 'he said she said' stuff its just stupid. It's same old BS politicians argue about all the time. Maybe O'Reilly is right, maybe he's wrong... Do the research and make up your own mind. But the energy so many people waste finger pointing and demanding retribution or puishment or apologies is just stupid. If people are idiots, ignore them and F 'em. Otherwise you just get caught up in the whole stupid game and nobody ever 'wins'.

We along with our allies dont murder innocent civillians, we dont torture (real torture, not making some murdering muslim wear panties on their heads) our prisoners, we dont invade and conquer countries for the sake of conquering them, we have freed and liberated more people than any nation in history, we dont start wars, we have stamped out nazism, fascism, totalitarinism, we've won the cold war, defeated communism and all kinds of other isms.

We are a nation of men and as such some of us are corrupt and are guilty of attrocities however as a country we ARE the good guys and they are the bad guys and our military is to thank for most of what is great in this counrty and at the very least they deserve the presumption of innocence.

What kills me is that a lot of the same people that are ready to hang these Marines are the same people that are fighting to get lawyers to terrorists captured in Iraq.

We owe the military our lives and freedom! I dont think giving them our loyalty is asking too much.

Twenty some odd years ago I heard a prof (WWII vet) mention something about US troops doing what O'Reilly claims.

I know a Major in the Rangers who spent a great deal of time in the Pentagon. This guy reads and studies every page of the military budget each year. he was being groomed to led the Ranger program. Anyway, he will tell you flat out Clark is one of the biggest scumbugs around. he used the troops in indefensible positions in Bosnia, etc.

At least Clark, a 4-star general fought for his country, and with valor. O'Reilly seeked a teaching deferment during Vietnam.

That's right. After Fox News and O'Reilly were vehemently exposed on their Normandy blunder, they quickly changed the transcript AGAIN to Malmedy in an attempt to quell the uproar. No mistakes admitted, no apology given.
