I want to watch this really bad because I would love to see Hughes and Gracie go at it but I just cant make myself come off with the $40 to get it.

If anybody here watches it, let me know who wins!

Just as I thought it would turn out. Hughes beats the crap out of Gracie and the ref stops it in the first round.

Matt Hughes is, pound for pound, the best fighter in the world I do believe!

I cant wait til this comes out on DVD.

Hughes dominated Gracie. Other than a few weak kicks at the start, Gracie had no offence. I think McCarthy let it go too long when Matt started pounding his head. Gracie took some really hard shots. I was impressed that he got out of the arm bar though.

Some of the best fights were the two following the main event. In the second, one guy landed a flying knee knockout which was a thing of beauty. The guy got hit with a good punch and raised his hand as if to say he was ok. Then he caught the knee in the chin.

hah. I would hope that the match would be longer. I'll just have to watch spike and maybe they'll do a recap.

Kinda feel bad for Gracie. So Gracie got him into an arm bar and Matt got out?

I watched it and I don't feel bad for him. They claim (Gracie family) to be the best in the world and no one can beat them. Guess what?? Anyone can be beat. Any style can beat any other style with the right artist. Style isn't what wins fights.

True martial Artists know this. Anyone who thinks "there style" is superior to another is a fool.Out of the ring where there are no rules, things are alot different. You use different technic's that injure or kill.Fastest Damage with no reguard other then saving your own life.No mercey.

UFC 60 was very good. Alot better then 59 which kinda sucked. I wish the Hughes/Gracie fight would have gone the distance but Matt is so damn good.I did expect more out of Gracie.

I was on blockbuster online starting to snatch up some of the old DVD's hopefully they'll provide a few hours of entertainment.

Yeah, Matt is the total package. He's an excellent wrestler and is strong as a bull. As long as there are weight classess in the UFC I see Matt on top for a while. He's only 165 pounds but he's as strong as a 220 pounder.

Andre Arlovski would beat him I believe. He is just as good a grappler but has better standup and is nearly 100 pounds heavier.

Like I said, I believe Matt to be the best fighter pound for pound but Arlovski is the best period. I dont see him losing anytime soon.

I haven't watched any UFC's in about 4 years so I don't claim to know that much about it but I checked out Arlovski's websight and it said that he lost to Tim Sylvia back in april at UFC 59 and I just wondered what you thought of him, like I said I haven't seen any UFC's in quite a few years so I'm not disagreeing with you about Alovski just wondering what you think of Sylvia

WOW!!! I didnt know he lost to Sylvia! I havent seen any of the newer UFC's as I wait til they come out on DVD. I had Arlovski pegged to dominate for a long time!

Sylvia is impressive thoght so Im not taking anything away from him. He looks like a fat slob but he's a bad ****! Frank Mir broke his arm in an arm bar, yes literally broke it in two! You could see it! But Sylvia STILL didnt tap out!!! The ref had to stop the fight cause Sylvia wanted to keep going!

Im suprised Arlovski lost but if he was to lose, Im not suprised it was to Sylvia! He's not technically superior but he's the toughest **** Ive ever seen and sometimes thats enough.

It was the biggest fluke I've ever seen in boxing or mma. Arlovski nailed him with a right and had Tim in big trouble. When Andre moved in to finish him off he stepped into a punch and Tim fell on top on him. After a couple of punches McCarthy stopped it. Anything can happen at any time.

Arlovksi is a much better striker, and obviously a better grappler, than Tim, and he is able to catch Tim's chin through the long jabs. He has the power to drop Tim and once the big guy is on the ground, it's over.

Watch the first fight, it was fast, but it was all Arvloski.

Arlovski was out and not defending himself in the second fight, I thought it was a good stoppage. Slyvia was lucky though and I believe will lose the next fight. Neither compare to Fedor in Pride. I didn't expect much from Gracie, he fights only once a year. I kind of wonder why he even took this fight. Hughes has no competition in his weight class. They are pulling people from everywhere to fight him. Hughes came into this fight at 175. Maybe he should make the jump to 185 and see how he fairs.

Yeah, until they get rid of weight classes, Hughes will dominate.

As far as the stoppage, I believe Mcarthy to be an outstanding ref and if he stopped it then I have no doubt it was a good call.

Sylvia-Arlovski III is coming up a UFC 61. I always root for the guys that fight out of the Quad Cities area, so I was happy with last night's card. The flying knee was incredible, as was Marvin Guillard's huge knockout of Rick Davis. Davis was out before he hit the ground and did a major face plant on the mat. I think they said the prelim fights would be on ufc.com soon, so you would be able to see both of those KO's.

I said that Gracie would win, guaranteed.

Was Gracie able to get Hughes down to the ground ? I haven't been able to watch UFC for several years, but Gracie used to be King if he got you down on the ground.

With a quick 1-round stoppage, I imagine Hughes kept that in mind and came out hammering.

Everyone raves about how great hughes is and he is a talented wrestler, BUT, the reason he is great is because of GRACIE Jiu jit su!

I have lost complete respect for him because he did not give the Gracies any respect! Matt Hughes without a knowledge of Gracie Jiu jit su would have been destroyed?? Royce used to fight 4 times a night ,and won everytime. The US military now uses Gracie jiu jit su in their hand to hand combat.
Once they shared their knowlege of a proven system everyone jumped on board and learned. The Gracie family is not invincable but the art they created is!!.
Matt Hughes should have given the Gracie family some respect and should have thanked them for what he learned. Without it he would have been just like shamrock or dan severn, (another notch on the gracie belt)

It is a matter of time before Hughes goes down. My money is on George St Pierre!

grab yourself a pansat or coolsat and never miss another ufc. and for those who live like Jesus, go ahead and knock me. i never miss a fight. and i do believe hughes gives the gracie family all the respect in the world, maybe not right after his last fight, but respect is there. and i'm not sure exactly what weight he fought at, but he looked bulkier than he normally does. and that armbar he had on royce looked like it was bending his arm further than god inteded elbows to bend. but like royce was gonna tap via submission...

Matt Hughes owes his success to good old fashioned American wrestling and tossing around hay bales all day long, not the Gracies.

I give the Graicies credit for bringing grappling to the forefront but they are not the ones that originated it. Hell even Bruce Lee preached the virtues of grappling and I for one have been saying for years that wrestlers are the baddest dudes around.

The style that has proven to be dominate and most effective is the "ground and pound" style that was brought about by the likes of Mark Kerr, Mark Coleman and to some extent, Dan Severn.

Royce fought 3 times a night in UFC 1 and 2 and won because he went up against a bunch of low rent kickboxers. In UFC 3 he ran up agaisnt Kimo and although he barely won by submission, Kimo beat him up so bad that he couldnt continue due to injuries. That was when Royce's appearances in the UFC started to dwindle.

Gracie jui-jitsu is very effective but its nowhere near the be all end all style. The ground and pounders are dominating virtually all the mixes martial arts tournaments leaving the strictly submission fighters like the Gracies behind.

If you head over to sherdog.com, they have a video interview up with Hughes after the fight. Now, obviously, he is confident about himself (why shouldn't he be?), but in one part they asked him what he said to Royce after the fight. He said, "It was an honor to fight you." You'll also recall that after the fight Matt said it was a difficult situation to be in for Royce because he was used to fighting for up to an hour straight, but he was forced to fight in three fight-minute rounds. Matt has all kinds of respect for Royce.

Money would be my guess. He is 39 and his UFC championship days are some 10+ years behind (UFC I was in 1993). This was a huge payday for him as I bet UFC organizers have been begging him to fight quite some time now. If it wasn't then I also wonder why he took the fight.

He is not going to. While he has skill his strength is his strength. I don't see him succeeding that well against bigger opponents. I see Hughes and Gracie as two different style fighters, Royce is all skill but rather weak physically. Back in his younger day he was able to dominate people with his skills but you have to remember most of the physical fighters weren't very skilled (Kimo f.e.). Now at 39 against a juiced up, skilled fighter he didn't fair that well. It was still an impressive fight for him and if Hughes wasn't coming so strong at him from the beginning he could have very well gotten a submission. Not this time though, and maybe never.

I was suprised his MMA Record was displayed incorrectly as 11-0. He did lose to Sakuraba after a 90 minute fight in Pride, and I believe his UFC III final "fight" after Kimo is also a loss even though there never was a fight.

Didn't Matt get put to sleep with a triangle by that slickass grappler with the dreads? Name escapes me at the moment, but the dude is one of the best in the world (my opinion). Dude hit his head when matt went out standing up, then Matt wokeup first and was declared the winner lol. or was that someelse?
