I've never bothered with "turn-on" sequences, though I think for tubed equipment it may be a different story...maybe a polkie tube-head will chime in with more info.

I have my amp turn on last after a 15 second delay.
It just helps prevent spikes or surges when everything turns on at the same time.

Same here for tube gear. Tube amp before tube pre is a bad idear in my experience.

I'm with you on th SS gear - I really don't think it matters but I follow the tube gear sequence anyway.

I always turn my AVR on first... oh wait.. I only have an AVR.

Oh well, someday I'll be able to worry about which piece to turn on first... ;)

Chiming in a bit late. It really depends if you amplifier has a delay (muting) circuit (usually a relay). If it does, it really doesn't matter the switching order. If it doesn't then amp on last; amp off first.

My turn on sequence is pre-amp, dac, cdp, amp.

My turn off sequence is amp, cdp, dac and then pre-amp after the caps have discharged in the amp.

Of course if your pre has a mute switch it should be used first, now is anyone confused..............

Your trying to prevent pops and the caps from emptying out the last of their energy through the speakers. Doing it wrong can damage your system.
