Here is pics of the new Infinite Baffle ceiling mounted subs.
Yes those are 4 15" subs running off a Buttkicker amp,
I only have 2 running right now. the bass is so fast and clean it is amazing!!!!

When my 10 gauge wire arrives I will remove the wimpy 14 gauge monster I used to test it out and wire all 4 and it should sound even better than it allready does.

I almoast forgot that I would never have done the Infinite Baffle if it were not for ( Skynut ) He bought my SVS from me and told me about this website http://ibsubwoofers.proboards51.com/index.cgi
I owe him big! Sky if you want to do this let me know I will help you out!!

Nothing compares to infinite baffle subs. Glad you like it. It does fit your room nicely.

How are they mounted? Sheetrock mounting?

I used some heavy duty sheetrock ancors

Naw I built a 3/4" plate/box and screwed it to the rafters I will get some pics of it tomorrow.

I just finished Aeon Flux and It was so cool to not tell where the base was coming from it is really hard to explain but the infinite baffle just seems to work so eficiently/easy. I cant wait till the 10 gauge comes in so I can get it running properly.

Wow! I would love to do that kind of installation in my ceiling. Where did you get the info on how to set that up? I wonder if it would even work in my ceiling. I have only about a foot or so of space between the tongue &groove and the roof. Really nice job.

First off let me say your room looks very nice. Talk about raining sheetrock down on someones head. In my opinion, that is an awesome looking setup. Congrats!

Now for my question. What does your statement mean? Unless you making your bass crossover somewhere above 80hz, you should not have been able to localize your sub before. Are you saying that with these subs, you can set your crossover fairly high with no localized bass?

No I used to have my SVS in a corner crossed at 80hz and I know you are not suppose to be able to tell where it is coming from but I could. I think I could hear the air from the ports or somthing but it just seemed to call attention to itself.

I have the infinite baffle crossed at 70hs right now just to experiment with the new Klipsch Refrence speakers, so far I love them they dont seem to be as bright as everyone thinks, maybe they toned it down a bit with the new line bit I like them so far

Very cool. Let me stress again, I think you did an awesome job with the installation. That is a rocking setup and look.

BTW...keep us informed of how things go. I would be interested in seeing a room frequency scan if you have the time and/or software to do it. I think the subs are plenty close to each other to negate any room cancellation effect but it would be nice to see what a room scan would show.

Now... when you coming over and fix my room up?

That was an excellent idea. Did you do any before and after frequency response measurements comparing the SVS to the IB design?

    Nice install.

On the note of sub localization. If a sub is too close then it can be localized as well. I'm still guessing that this isn't the problem though. Port noise could be it as well.

Back to the subject at hand. If it's responds fast and still has extension then you must be enjoing music as well.?.

Sorry guys I never did a frequency sweep with the svs I never felt the need as I loved it and never found it lacking. But the infinite baffle just has a completely diffrent sound and will play down to 5hz I will do a frequency scan on it in a few weeks as I will be adding an eq into the mix and learning how to use it.

drew spelts- I will pm you all the info later today.

I will also poast some better pics of the room once I get everything cleaned up.

Hay now the SVS is still the best box sub I have ever heard!
And it is your fault for giving me the info ha ha
I also dont know what to do with all that room in the corner now without the SVS???

but the infinite baffle just has the stealth/coolness factor and has a completely diffrent sound If I had to call it somthing I would call it bright, crisp, clean it intergrated seamlesly with my new Klipsch speakers.

How many watts is the amp?
Is the butkicker made for speakers? I thought it was for seat shakers.

Yah it is made for seat shakers it will power 4 -4ohm shakers but also works well with speakers it puts out 1000 wats at 2 or 4 ohms and can power all 4- 4ohm subs. I have it powering only 2 right noe and it dosent even get warm. It seems to be well built

I think I am going to get another amp and run one pair of subs from 80-40hz and the other pair 40-5hz
It is just a thought right now I dont know if it will cause canselation problems or not

So you just send a LFE signal to the buttkicker amp from the pre/pro?
What are those woofers, who made them?

I heard that you need less watts to drive to a certain level too since there's supposed to be almost no back pressure. How far do you have to crank the amp?

The subs are Rlp-15's sold by Soundsplinter made by the same company that makes the SVS drivers.
Yes just LFE signal to the Buttkicker amp and it is a go.

I am running the amp at about 40% of max power but I have a lot of resistance in the 14 gauge wire I used to mock it up till the 10 gauge arrives.
It is true you need less power to push the IB

Are you going to cover/grill them? I think that a totally stealth look would be my preference once I got tired of watching them.;)

An IB sub with the number of drivers he has should pressurize his room to well into reference levels, with around 200-300 watts or so. With an IB nothing ranks as high as displacement, which means lots of high excursion drivers. The more the better, to avoid bottoming out the undamped woofers.

I bet he needs a good hammer and some touch up paint.
The hammer is to pound the nails back in wherever they begin to work free and the paint is to fix the hammer marks.

He will find loose stuff (rattles) in the construction of his house that he never knew existed.:D And may create a few new ones ith action films. War of the Worlds needs to be on the top of your list once you get it dialed in!

The IB is simply the cleanest most effortless way to recreate bass that exists, since there isn't any box to color the sound. It is easier to do than dipole/IB full range speakers too since placement is less of an issue at the low frequencies produced. It is best to put them in front of the listener if possible, but many others have had luck with side or rear setups.

I have to admit, that I am not at all familiar with what Infinite Baffle actually is, but that is one of the coolest things I've seen since embracing this hobby, congratulations.

I need to do a little research to learn a bit more about this, but I'm curious to know if you get the same tactile sensation from LFE effects in movies with the subs in the ceiling like that?
