Very timely...just got a new assessment and it went up over 40%.

I’ve got two acres that’s connected to my land, but has a separate appraisal. Just land, no roadway access, no nothing. Previous appraisal was $9800, this year’s is $39,000. Crazy.

dubyateeeffmate. how is this even legal. cost of living definitely outpacing compensation, I'm sure.
I feel like higher appraisals are fine, but for sellers and new buyers only - like the people flocking in with loads of CA money to buy cheaper TX property. owners shouldn't be taxed on increases like this. it's ridiculous. isn't this how people end up losing homes and property?

County property tax up 40%. Good news is I no longer
Pay city tax. I do pay my own garbage and fire fees.
    I'm still coming out ahead.

^^^ why I’ve never done a sleep test … even though I know I need to. I doubt I could sleep with a CPAP anyway, though I admit those that have them seem to love them. What’s the deal with that new implant thingie they have now? That seems like it might be the way to go.

As far as I know the Borg implant thingy only works for milder cases of sleep apnea, so it depends on the individual case. I have to use a bipap machine with as much pressure as it would take to inflate the Hindenburg, so the implant thingy no workie for me.

speaking of sleep disorders -- this is a subject that I know next to nothing about, but there was (at least from my neophyte perspective) a good discussion of the topic(s) on the NPR news-ish program "1A" today.

I listened to some of this podcast, but then it sent me to sleep. I think I have selective narcolepsy. Please send ritalin.

Why would Hyundai put the button for reverse towards the front of the car and the button for drive towards the rear? Seems counter intuitive to me.
