That light means nothing to the ladies in my life. Stepdaughter drove over 300 miles with that light on.

What light? The one that warns of the approach of a helicopter with a really small propeller on top?

I have that light on my MSI laptop, when I see it, I put on my tinfoil hat and poof it goes away

Why is there a check engine light in a modern car?
It would cost maybe $50 to display real messages.
They even put a little snowflake light in the wife's
Car to tell you it's below freezing out.

I've had two Japanese cars in which the outside thermometer display flashes at 37 degrees (F). Presumably it's meant to warn of possible freezing conditions -- but in neither car (a RAV-4 and a Crosstrek) was this documented in the OM.

I just thought that was odd.

The wife freaked out when she saw the snowflake flashing and called
me at work. I figured it out pretty quickly. I guess people are no longer
Capable of watching for winter conditions without an idiot light.
Brave new world. My first couple of cars didn't even have seat belts.

Back in the 80's I had an 86 BMW 325 that would ding and flash a snowflake symbol on the dash when it approached 35 degrees. Constantly making the driver take his eyes off the road to look at the stupid flashing snowflake. Kind of like my '22 Tacoma that would ding and flash a weird symbol when it sensed wheel slip. Now I'm driving down an icy road trying to read the operators manual to see WTF that symbol means instead of just using my own instincts. Sometimes technology sucks.

Why would a laptop have a check engine light? Or better yet why is someone driving down the road with their keyboard on their lap?

It was 68. And it rained all day yesterday.
That's when the turtles come out. This one
was only about 3 inches across. Better than
a yard full of snakes. The cat did kill one of those
last week. He really wanted to go out and mess with
    this guy.

My parents had a dog who like to flip toads on their backs and watch them. When they'd right themselves and start to hop away, he would pick them up and do it all over again. If they played dead, he would nudge them with his nose to keep the game going.

This guy goes after anything. He even chases leaves blowing around the yard.
Here he is chilling on my bed. It's his domain, we're just support staff.
