I do boycot when I feel strongly. It's a question of where i want my money to go. There are other semi-boycots I have where I try to stay away from something if I don't like it, but sometimes conveinance makes me use it anyway.
I boycotted Exxon for many years after the Alaska oil spill.
    I boycott fur
Most mass produced american beer (cause it tastes bad)
    Walmart, conveinance use only
SUV's, cause I don't drive on rugged terrain roads and they use too much gas for everyday use = gluttony
Veal, find a way to make beef taste better without abusing the cow
Rap concerts, cause I don't need a cap busted in my ****
Militant Lesbians, aint gonna get none noways
    Bose, don't believe the hype

What can I say. I've got issues :)
    The Family
    Polk SDA-1C's
    Polk SDA-2
    Polk Monitor 10B's
    Polk LSI-9's
    Polk Monitor 5's
    Polk 5 jr's
    Polk PSW-450 Sub
    Polk CSI40 Center

Do not one day come to die, and discover you have not lived.
This is pretty f***ed up right here.

non of these a-holes get my money.

Although I'm not as good about it as I should be, I TRY to buy American whenever feaseable.

Steve pretty much summed it up for me, although I'll admit as a non-smoker, I don't pay as close of attention to the anti-smoking places.

I don't believe this for a second. Many, many businesses in the past have gone under because of poor customer service and many more will in the future as well. Sure, the mega-corporations that deal in low cost commodities with minimal customer interaction are a little more shielded but it DOES make a difference. You piss off enough people with poor customer service and your sales will go down, and its because one person does make a difference.

Not to derail, but I wouldn't lean on Qwest too much. Out here in AZ, Comcast and Cox are eating Qwest's lunch, so I wouldn't be surprised if they take a major hit soon. Also, working with Qwest as another utility can be pretty annoying. They are on thin ice with my employer.

I refuse to step foot in a Starbucks because they actively and agressively promote the **** rights issue. Not much of a sacrifice on my part, though...they don't have anything I like.

I also boycott Monster products. But then, since I haven't actually started buying cables yet, I don't guess this has been much of an issue, either.

As I become aware of such similar instances, I add to the list.

Right on brother, can't say I agree with your politics, but that is what responsible consumerism is all about.

When people hear boycott they seam to assume that it means some nationally organized campaign. Not necessarily true. A boycott can be nothing more than a personal stand against/for whatever cause/agenda you choose to believe in.

Will my keeping my dollars from Dominoes crumble their empire? Of course not. However it will keep my dollars from supporting a cause I disagree with.

BTW I am sure that I more than make up for your shortcomings in supporting Starbuck's. Give me that sweet, sweet caffine.;)

and was right along my thinking... only people tend to push thier agenda driven boycotts on others.. Like i said, Boycott who you want just leave me to do as i choose without the " we don't agree with that company round here" attitude. to each his own.. I boycott this topic :D

It is hard to leave you out when you keep sticking around the thread. With 5 posts in this thread already, you're doing a pretty crappy job of boycotting.

All that aside, no one is pushing their agenda on you. People are relpying to a question and if you find some business practices you don't like, don't give said businesses your money. Or do, it is your choice.

    easy does it kip,
It wasnt directed at this thread specifically... Like the Monster boycott we have going around the forum.. for a while, everytime someone new mentioned Monster cable.. They said, AH we dont support them around here.. and some other choice comments.. Not just ignore the thread because you don't agree with said company..

My comment about leave me out of it, didn't mean out of the thread topic.. It meant if i don't have any boycotts or practice boycotting don't call me names and make comments about it. because of my choice, just like the next guys choice to boycott Mc donalds or whom ever. doesn't bother me,

and it was a joke, boycott this thread... haha!! ya know.. :)

Its a good thread topic, if ya like stiring up peoples thoughts like it did you..

But you see, when people asked about monster they got a response that said monster was not a good company. They chose to boycott monster and are passing along info as to why you may want to boycott as well.

Once again, I believe that a person should be responsible with his money. This includes looking into business practices and company policies. If you find that their ethics don't match yours you shouldn't support them. Vice versa for companies that you do agree with.

No one is calling you names so don't go getting all sensitive about it. Making comments is what forums are all about. If no one ever commented then how would questions be answered? The fact that you choose not to boycott doesn't bother me, it just seems irresponsible.

All good threads do stir up the thought process, and hopefully can enlighten people as well. Doesn't mean you have to agree, just see the other viewpoints.

I think you have walmart and wallmart confused. While the major supplier of vinyl siding in the world is wallmart, I doubt that there are as many casualties on the job as you are assuming. They are actually pretty safe, last time I was there only one person died. And that was just in checkout.

Non-smoking establishments: The county I live in is non-smoking in restaurants. I have to say I enjoy it. I like being able to sit in any portion of the place and not have to worry about my clothes or hair smelling like smoke. Cause if my hair smells like smoke the next morning, there's no way my better half will be in the mood :) I don't think smoking should be banned everywhere, but at eating establishments I find it a personal plus.

Movie theaters: I maybe go to the theater once a year, and only if its for a movie I'm dying to see. Why go to a crappy theater with half-assed sound and crappy video and deal with 50 other idiots for $15 when I can buy a DVD for the same price? Then I can enjoy my superior video and audio, pause and pee when I want to, and eat the food I want to for a reasonable price.

Dell: I can build my own computers and get a much better bang for the buck, so I avoid Dell and Gateway and all of those companies whenever possible. Either I have owned, or my better half has owned, a Dell Gateway and Compaq/HP, and each one of them has done a deep 6 at some point within its first year. I built a PC 3-4 years ago, and never had a problem with it. Its not good enough to play current games on anymore, but works great for my everyday stuff.

McD's: I boycott them cause their food sucks. I worked there, so I know how crappy it is.
