Do you boycot anything?

Do you boycot anything for any reason and why.

Just curious.
Another thread took a turn down this path and rather than de-rail it completly I wanted to start a new thread.

I for one will not allow any of my money to go to jane fonda or michael more.
Jane fonda for her role in Vietnam and more for his ill fated attempt at de-railing our election process.
Monster is on my list for their practice of intimidating buisnesses without enough money to fight them.

Not many more make my list with exception to my short term boycot of illegal imigrants and their buisnesses.

So how about you, do you boycot?

Organized boycotts? No, but boycotting for personal reasons, absolutely. You're kind of a dolt if you don't pay attention to who or what you support with your money.

What if Fantasic Sam's used child slave labor to cut hair, then would you use them? Obviously a retardedly extreme example, but then that statement wasn't well thought out either. Boycotting for one poor experience with one employee doesn't make much sense. Boycotting because you don't agree with a company's policies or political views is responsible consumerism.

Personally I boycott Dominoes Pizza. They give lots of money to Pro-Life causes.

I feel the same way in regards to organized boycots. I have too much going on in my own life to pay attention to what other people think I should boycot.

I do however feel like it is anyones personal right to choose what they spend their money on and why.

This thread is just to see various reasons people choose to make a decision not to support someone or something.

before buying my WRX I believed all dealership service centers were evil as well. Then I found the Subaru dealership where I currently take my car and they are awesome. I go there for oil changes (i'm lazy :p ), $23 incl. tax and I get my oil changed, car washed and vacuumed in about 30-45 minutes. Never once have they said I needed some bogus repair. I've also taken my car there for regularly scheduled maintanence becuase there prices are very close (just a bit higher) than other places, and I know the guys working there know more about my car than anyplace else and I don't have to worry about some punk-**** HS kid taking my car for a joyride around the block.

so... who do I boycott? Dell :D

i personally picked, "No I don't think it would make a difference." Before I get jumped, let me phrase it like this:

If I, a single American bloke, decide that I don't like, oh say, Sonic Drive Thru's and decide that I'm boycotting because I received bad customer service, my food arrived late, and they didn't even say you're welcome, I think it's ridiculous. Myself, as one person is not going to make a bit of difference. Even if I stand there with a sign that says, "Say NO to Sonic," do you think that even one person will turn away because of me? So when it comes to individual things, I think its just plain silly to boycott.

Now, let's say that we are standing up against the Government for instance, and trying to flex our national rights, then oh ya, I'm right there beside my other brothers and sisters who are boycotting for the greater good. After all, this is our right as American's, who belong to the GREATEST nation on this planet!

But to just boycott because I don't agree with so-n-so, or such and such, a complete waste of my time. Granted, I will take my business to a place that win's my trust, but if a deal comes up else where, and burgers are for sale at Sonic, trust me.. I'll be in line with the rest!

and was right along my thinking... only people tend to push thier agenda driven boycotts on others.. Like i said, Boycott who you want just leave me to do as i choose without the " we don't agree with that company round here" attitude. to each his own.. I boycott this topic :D

Back several years ago I got on this kick because everywhere I went people were A-holes. Turned out if I continued the boycott process I would have no place to buy anything. I guess it goes that way sometimes...

And no, it wasn't me being an ****. I would walk into a place quietly, smiling, explain the problem sensibly and get nothing.

I would argue that it's a complete waste of your hard-earned money to patronize an establishment with which you have a personal qualm. You're absolutely right that it will not make a difference in teh grand scheme of things, but at least you know that you're spending your money somewhere where you agree with their policies (or whatever).
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Sometimes, it's more than just inflicing financial damage to the business you're boycotting.... it's more of a personal stand against a business that you dont agree with. Regardless of whether they suffer from your lack of patronage, a boycott is one man's refusal to give more to a cause not suited for him (or her).

I boycott when I feel strongly about it, I dont care if my money (or lack thereof) makes a dent in their net profits. All I care about is that my money goes to where I want it to go.

i'm ending my boycott of this thread now. ha ha ha

I am now boycotting my local Micky D's. I go thru the drive thru and order one of their new Asian salads they are pushing.. pay for it at window #1 then drive to window #2 where the nice young lady politely tells me they don't have any grilled chicken ready.. "do you want to wait 7 minutes or do you want crispy instead"?

I said ok. i'll take crispy instead. leave and eat my salad. It was pretty good. but c'mon, how tough is it to nuke a peice of chicken for 40 seconds and serve it up in my salad? 7 minutes? I can fire up my gas BBQ and grill my own chicken in 7 minutes.

So i'm boycotting my local McDonalds.
