She chose not to get a headstone for her son’s grave because she didn’t want tourists getting their photos taken next to it, and she wanted to respect the privacy of others who visit the graveyard for their own personal reasons.

Give it a rest, the woman lost a son for godsakes.

why would a gravestone make a difference from the plaquard that is allready there. the grave seems to not be a secret, and I really dont think throngs of people would go to get there picture taken next to it. If that is the reason, why is she blaming everyone from the cemetary to the memoriall home for the problem? you did read the whole thing right?

political viewpoints aside, if you think all of her actions are for noble causes, then your just missing it? She is high on the attention, plain and simple. hey, it can happen to any of us, so I try not to cast to many dispersions, but mark the grave for Christs sake, I think the kid deserved it.

Personally I think she got a "high" from being in the spotlight.
I think she is making money being in the spotlight.
Sure she should be grieving but I think she has turned this into a career.

I feel for her loss but I do not like her.

I found her lighting up the mortuary guy, who apparently laid out some (probably not alot) of his own cash to get the job of the burial done, to be particularly interesting.

My thoughts exactly. I feel for her loss, but she's become way too radical for any level-headed American imo. However, that doesn't mean i'm going to go out of my way to suggest that she might not care about her son simply because there's no grave marker. Who am I to know? What business is it of mine? None. Again, the woman lost a son. I, nor any of us have any business judging her. Liberals shouldn't use her as a political tool, and conservatives shouldn't be hating on her just because they like Bush or support the war. This is the stupidest thread of all time.

its not a question of judging persay, but it is a GLARING example of losing site of whats important. I have no question she moured the loss of her son. I do think that her rantings and actions to date have SERIOUSLY skewedher ability for ration and logic. Speak out? sure, but dont lose sight of whats important. Its important to stay grounded, which as mean as it may sound, Ms Sheehan most certainly did NOT. Calling a spade a spade here.

P.S. I have some conservative friends who would disagree with you calling me conservative :)

Really, George? Does every Mother and Father that lost a son or daughter fighting in foreign wars for our country get to have their mugs plastered all over the TV and Newspapers just because of the fact? Would they even want to? No. Do they all have a right to see the President of the United States? We've all got a connection to some type of personal tragedy, it doesn't absolve you of personal responsibility for your speech or your actions.

I think most people genuinely felt sorry for a mother that lost a son, and that was that. Once you put yourself out there blabbing a bunch of political rhetoric that piggybacks on the man's death (politics he didn't share, BTW) it's open season for criticism. The reason most people think she is a scum sucking leech is because she's using her son as the stepping stone for all of her commentary and personal advancement -- things he didn't stand for.

Your qualifier to judge her is what? Because her beliefs are not yours? Because it's not what YOU would do? Or is your qualifier that you have access to the internet? Hell, we'll never know what YOU would do. Unless of course your qualifier is that you nurtured a child through life, only to have that life ended tragically and prematurely by what YOU consider to be a senseless war. She's not hurting you, and she's not hurting this country. She's the only thing that is hurting as a result of her son's death.

I think there's quite a bit of judgement and pre-judgment that happens in this forum every day, regardless of this particular subject.

I don't care for her, never will and that was, the last time I checked, my right to do so.
