Sorry Nightly, but no. Its true. That's how the bible was made. By the church who voted on stories to include and which ones not to. Why do you think there have been so many discrepencies in it? Contradictions left and right. It was a book written as more of a way to teach people how to treat each other (motivational almost) but over the years, thanks to many Kings of Europe, it became "fact." I was raised Catholic and have done some research on it, not a ton but enough. Why do you honestly think they keep coming out with all these new artifacts that contradict other parts of it?

Show me a contradiction? Where? You said yourself that you have researched on it, so please, show me where a single verse contradicts another verse?

And what are these new artifacts that have been found that contradict other parts of the bible? Try doing a search on the "Dead Sea Scrolls" that were found and after a side by side comparison completed of them and the Bible, not a single discrepancy was found. Over 5000 documents that support the Bible now exist. More than ANY other manuscript in writing today.

I just want you to show me where there is a contradiction of scripture?

Regarding the four different "gospels" consider this: Two were written by eye witnesses, and two were written by interviewing others that had been there first hand, and then put into writing. And each of the writers completed their, "Gospel" in different parts of the world and at different times. How come all four of them end up telling the exact same story, from four perspectives?

Again, this probably isn't the place to discuss this, but please, post on here your findings of where the Bible contradicts itself and has "so many discrepancies in it."

Also look at who was doing that research. Was it a believer or a skeptic? Because believers tend to skew things just a little... (it makes what they believe that much more real)

I don't find myself agreeing with Hannity all that often, but I gotta side with him this time.

It's been almost 2 weeks, and no one replied with ANY proof to back up their statements regarding this debate. I'm just curious if research is still going on, or it just slipped to the back page accidentally.

I'm honestly waiting to hear about the new evidence and facts that disprove the Gospels.

    Thanks

Saw an interesting show on Discovery a while back. Seems the story of Noah was originally the story of King Gilgimesh of Babylon, or Samaria or one of those places.

Same arc, same animals, same floods, same devine direction but a different guy and a couple thousand years before the Noah story.

Dont know if that proves or disproves anything but I found it interesting none the less.

That is interesting. I'll have to look into that one. Thanks for the thoughts..

But I'd have to say that it isn't quite along the lines of the validation of the Gospels. I probably will be waiting forever from these guys, at this rate that is

    Mr Nightly,

And interesting book "The Jesus Mysteries". You might find it interesting. Nothing that contradicts the bible if you aren't a strict literalist, but offers up that the same stories of God were spread throughout the world at different times. Two arguments could be made from the findings:

1). Christians "stole" the stories/mysteries and made them their own traditions

    or

2). God spread his word beyond the reach of profits huddled in the middle east.

I do find it telling that the snipers were asked for such "obvious" evidence and have yet to return it. Especially since the local thought police always demands proof of everything else people claim.

I don't think anyone argues against the Gospels, but thats not all there is in the bible.People have a problem,IMHO of coarse, with the lack of the other Gospels, and how the catholic church deems to exclude them.Pick and choose.
Also the stories,Adam and Eve for example, any eye witness's to that? Coarse not, creation or evolution?Won't get into that but some feel that was a cover story for God telling them to not have sex.The apple....the snake...you get the meaning. Most feel that the catholic religion has been rather.... well
deceptive over the decades, century's.Now some parts are meant to have meaning in the stories and not taken as actual fact. For teaching the young.
Praying to statues? Treating the Pope likes he's God himself ? Isn't there
a commandment on that?Don't get me wrong, was brought up catholic and
went to cath. schools, but as you get older that pill is harder and harder to swallow when you read the headlines today.Somewhere along the line, being
saved by God's good grace took a back seat to power, corruption, and big

    Tony,

I agree. To most people who claim "discrepancies" and complain about the other gospels not being included forget that the discrepancies are between Catechism and the Bible. As for the Gospels, that was a church decision and does not neccessarily mean that the ones there are "wrong".

Every good Christian (and those who want to argue with Christians) should read the whole Bible and the gnostic gospels and draw their own conclusions.

My personal thinking is that a lot of the old testement was written in a way that the people of the day (2000-1000 BC) could relate. I mean if you can't even plant a field, how would you possibly understand concepts like 10 Billion Years or Evolution. Even the book most poked fun at (Leviticus) makes a lot of sense when you put it into context of the time it was written from a societal and health point of view.

As for the intolerant shmuck in the video, drop them off in the Syria/Iraq border.
