I could have sworn I saw a thread here but I didn't find one so I just wanted to pass a warning. The audio tracks is filled with low end bass. I was shaking my house with the dvd. Be careful not to blow out your speakers by listening too loud to this dvd. The movie is awful compared to the original, but my god I've never had such a crazy dvd audio track so I had to buy it. :D

Muso, do you run your HT without a seperate sub? I know your LSi 25's have built in powered subs.. does that work pretty good for ya? Just curious is all.

Yeah, you have to be careful with the volume and crossover settings. If you have the volume set high, they will rumble the house, but they sound awful. They can still rumble well without being set super high. You just have to tweak them with your system so they are tight and punchy rather than loud and muddy. To put it in perspective, I was in another room about 20 feet away where I couldn't hear the movie, but suddenly I was feeling the movie. Lol!

    NOW YOU TELL ME!

Actually I had my mains set to large by accident and watched this movie. It blew the kevlar off of my B&W. Had to go to the dealer to replace 2 drivers on one of the speakers. My Krell killed it. Good sound though :)

so it's not a dvd warning but more of a system warning. Careful how you mistreat your speakers while watching this movie.

I finally brought out this movie (bought it a while ago), fired up the DTS track, and it absolutely rocked... outstanding SQ, but a goofy disjointed movie. I'll use it for a couple of demo tracks at best.

Same here Noel! Regardless of the LFE track, I hated this movie because of those damn kids. I kept yelling at the TV to the aliens...TAKE THEM, TAKE THEM!

This is ironic since it was this very movie that blew my subs, which led me to putting together a complete 7.1 LSi system...and joining this forum. While I always enjoyed my old and aging Citation 7000 speaker system for HT, it never quite made it as a music system. As a result, I often used a second room setup for music, rotating speakers in and out on a regular basis. As a long-time owner and fan of Paradigm's Reference line, I almost went back to them for my HT system; that was until I got a chance to listen to these at Sound Advice.

And while I still enjoy my original Infinity Renaissance 90s for 2-channel, the quality of these Polks has me seriously considering consolidating my music/movie listening. Though the Ren-90s still sound great for 2-channel, the combination of the LSi15/LSiC/LSi9 and FX sound incredible with discrete multichannel material. In fact other than the lowest end, the 9s/15s have some of the same mid/upper-end attributes that I love about the Infinity; incredibly open, detailed and transparent...much larger than their size belies.

I couldn't be happier...especially since I got all of these speakers for less than what the retail was on a pair of these Infinities new (circa early 90s). Thanks Speilberg.

Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled with the movie...but the sound was unreal. Sadly, I never saw the movie in the theaters so when I stepped away I wasn't expecting the horns to do the damage they did to my subs. When I came back, they were bottoming-out.

Speaking of movies that sucked **** and had great sound... try "Hussle and Flow". It is not over-the-top bass, but that deep "fat" bass common to rap music and some awesome percussions on the high end. Want to blow more speakers and subs? Try "Underworld".

The DTS sound track is 8dB louder than the DD soundtrack, according to the dialogue normalization on my receiver (DD=-4, DTS+4 for an 8dB difference), so that is why people are blowing their speakers. The DTS version is probably clipping the heck out of the amp. The sound is killer though when the aliens are coming out of the ground, and start zorching everything, but the DTS version is MUCH louder than the DD version. But be careful when listening to the DTS version.
