Do high gas prices have me down? No. I will pay what I have to in order to get to where I'm going. If I didn't have a work vehicle, I'd use public transportation when viable.

So the economy is growing by leaps and bounds, unemployment is extremely low, well below what is considered "full employment", personal income is up, retail sales are at record highs, new home sales are at an all time high but gas prices are up so its the end of the world?

Yeah, cars in England get 40 mpg. They can also fit in the trunk of most US cars. Since we're not socialists we dont have $4 of taxes on every gallon of gas so we can buy bigger cars. I guarantee you it Englands gas was $2/gallon youd see a bunch of Union Jacks flying off the antena of Suburbans.

And "big oil" has been investigated hundreds of times over many years and has never been nailed for price gouging. The FTC has a department that monitors oil and gas companies 24/7 and to the best of my knowledge have never found any wrong doing.

Im not saying oil companies are saints, but theyre no different than most other companies. Theyre trying to make a profit. Thats what businesses do. And their profit margin, on average is around 9%. Exactly in line with most business and actually on the lower end of the scale.

The high oil prices have nothing to do with Bush or the "big oil". Demand has skyrocketed thanks to China, India and some to Russia yet our supply has stayed basically the same. It is only natural that prices will rise. You want prices to drop, increase supply. Drill Alaska, the Kalifornia coast, the Gulf of Mexico, build more refineries, build more nuclear plants.

My trip to Bermuda last year made me re-evaluate my bitching. Try living on an island...where practically everything is an import. Gas prices elsewhere are higher than it is domestically....get a life America.

Yeah, but it IS Bermuda -- I'd be happy to live there if I could afford it!

I have the company car:D so the gas prices really don't hit me as hard as they should. My significant other has a 1992 Honda Civic and it costs him $28.00 to fill up and it last for a while..that's the main reason he still keeps it . He is frugal like that which I like actually.
