Nope our car is 2.5 yrs old and we only have 25697Kms on it, we don't drive so we fill up every two weeks.
-
That says it all!I have parked my 4 cylinder truck, and have been riding my motorcycles for the past two weeks. And I only drive when I absolutely must, most of my off time,I work on my dragbike, which when finished I probably wont be able to race because of the gas prices,or spend a lot of time listening to me Polks!

I drive an hour to work every day.... so I guess I'm starting to "feel the pinch".
But what gets me are the people who harp on the subject non-stop, driving to work 5 minutes down the street, all the while complaining about a twenty cent hike which could easily be off-setted by putting back the three King-sized Snickers and 2 Big Gulps picked up while waiting in line to purchase "said gas". Yeah, it sucks... trust me -- my wife and I are in a situation where evey penny counts. But when you take into account all the "useless things" we throw our money at.... sheesh.
Take audio equipment...:DI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

Well it seems to be that Cali is leading this race. I just got back from filling up my old Benz w/ Petro (should of bought diesel) at a whopping 45.80.....(3.36 gal.) and that is on Base..........
When it is time to turn in the wifes car at the end of the lease, she better get used to TDI power....I am looking forward to 40 plus mpg....I probably will not ever buy a Gas engine again.....

Well, they HAD me down until yesterday. That's when pres announced he was going to have the feds investigate and see if any of the oil companies were engaging in price gouging or "unethical trade practices".
When that happened on tv with a straight face, I became suicidal, not down. -
I was just watching the news and a lot of independent stations are closing down under protest. Apparently the independents pay upwards of .40 cents more per gallon of gas than their big counterparts. Exxon/Mobil, Shell etc.
-
This lady was on TV this morning... went something like this...
"These prices are rediculous!" *big sly ugh face*
"I just pawned off my wedding ring to pay for gas!"
"If they dont go down soon, I will have to sell more of my jewlery!"
About 2 seconds after that, the news people started talking again, and it showed the lady drive off in her Ford Excursion....
Man... I about rolled over, great stuff, really it is.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I got one of those stupid chain link e-mails where you are supposed to forward it to 30 people which I was going to copy and paste here, but I've already deleted it.
Basically, it said that Exxon/Mobil was by far the number 1 retailer of gas by volume, and that they pretty much set and control the prices. So if everyone avoided buying any gas from any Exxon/Mobil dealers, they will then have to lower their prices as a direct result of that, thus forcing all other brands to have to follow suit as well to match.
I don't know if it would work or not, but at this point ANYTHING is worth a try.
Another thing is that this is going to make it just that much harder for all the bankrupt airlines to ever come out of it too. -
Just got em in the inbox, and thought I would share...

Tell me you couldn't see this coming when BP bought out American, Shell bought out Texaco Exxon and Mobil. I noticed that before the "mergers"
you could see a competition and now it seems they are all in the same bed.polkaudio SRS (rdo194 x 8)

Lots of uninformed ideas here.... I think its somewhere around the actual oil companies make like 5 to 10 cents per barrel and the US gov makes something around 40. Yes the oil companies will lower/ raise there prices, but it only gains them around a cent everytime and the governemnt the rest of it. If we are going to get mad do it at the right people. These numbers were published and proven along time ago and people (even the media) are still bitching at the companies. I guess we really are that blind to big brother. And plus its a system. If you knew anything about systematics which everyone out of 3rd grade should, you can't blame one entity.vsnares

Got this from the US Dept of Energy...every state tax rate is different at the pumps.....Here are just two examples.. -

fair enough compadre... but be careful of painting with such a wide brush (as everything is ultimately part of a system:)
and the relativity of a 1 cent increase in profit margin to the barrel is nothing to sneeze at when one considers the volume we're dealing with....I never had it like this where I grew up. You're kidding right?
I'll just point to the Snopes article debunking this ridiculousness and back away slowly. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I dont understand why so many people automatically jump on the same bandwagon. Gas prices are high. Exxon sucks! Bush sucks!
We havent built a new oil refinery in this country in nearly 30 years. We havent built nuculear plant in this country in nearly 30 years either. Dont even think about a dam or coal fire plant. We wont drill in Alaska, off the coast of California or in the Gulf of Mexico where there is enough oil to sustain us for over half a century! THATS the problem.
In recent years, demand for gas has grown exponentially world wide especially in China and most recently India. Last year China passed the US to become the largest consumer of gas in the world! So the demand for gas has grown by leaps and bounds but the supply has stayed the same. Its only natural that gas prices are so high!
Want cheaper gas? Shoot a hippy and start digging in ANWR!
And as mentioned, over $.50 of a gallon of gas is TAXES!
An interesting little thing. Florida will not allow oil companies to drill within 250 miles of their coast!!! But Castro recently announced that he will be drilling for oil 45 miles off the coast of Florida! I guess he figures, "Hell if you guys are too stupid to come get all this oil, Ill get it!"polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Mac's dead on,
Over $1/ Gallon is caused by taxes and stupid policy decisions. Be green and stop bitchin' or my schools recent motto:
"Earth First! We'll mine the other planets later!" or
"Ban mining, let the **** freeze in the dark!" You get the idea...
Windfall tax? WTF? Great, so the government is going to tax them more to help the consumer? What, they going to write everyone checks from the government? Guess who pays these taxes? Poor schmucks filling the tanks. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Couldn't agree more. If you think that the Windfall profits tax is going to help you and bring down the cost you are dreaming. It will go to build a rec center or bridge with a senators name on it. At least we're not paying the $6-7 a gallon that Europe's paying right now. Of course, Venezuelans are paying less than 20 cents a gallon...

I'm betting that the US is going to delay drilling it's own fields until as late as possible so we can mop up big bucks in the future -- that way we can build stupid $h1+ in Phoenix like the ski resort in Dubai.
