Thanks all for your well wishes a couple weeks ago. Grandma Clara passed Saturday, 8 Apr at about 11:15pm. The family was with her all day, I think the stimulation of their presence kept her hanging on (she didn't like to miss out on anything). 2 hours after they left for the evening, she passed.

I'm just back from Saint Louis this afternoon, wanted to check in and say thanks to all for the kind comments and such.

Steve, My thoughts are with you and your family. Here's a poem I wrote for the preacher at my Grandmother's funeral. He had just moved to the church a week before she passed and he needed something to say about her, I think it speaks for a lot of them:

Each time I saw her there was a smile on her face
This nice little lady we called Granny Grace
She was always around when I was a child
Trying to keep us brothers from getting too wild

Somehow she knew each our favorite cake
And always on our birthday her best she would make
She always kept our pictures not far from her side
Just to show her friends and to express her pride

Often she would sit with needle and thread
And make beautiful quilts for each of our beds
Each milestone we crossed she was always there
Just to cheer us on and to show her care

If times were troubled and pain was around
Her strength was great and she not mumbled a sound
She always did right with few fences to mend
And stayed that way 'til the very end

She was tired and weak in her last few days
But her faith was strong in so many ways
As we send her to Heaven to be with Fred
Let us be happy with few tears to shed

Let's just say goodbye and not show any fears
Just be thankful we knew her for all these years

    Sorry for your loss
My thoughts and prayers go to you and your family
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Thank you all. She had a rough last 18 months, I'm just glad she's not suffering anymore; and I'm glad for my mom, who it was really taking a toll on.
